Be gentle I am fussy. ANd devoid of ideas.

I have got 2 lovely boys names sorted, but cannot think of a girl's name. Well, there is 1 that I like - Mary - but dh has vetoed at 'too religious'.

I'd like a name that cannot easliy be shortened, or at least isn't automatically.

I'd like something that isn't 'trying too hard', or too trendy, or too girly so that it sounds sweet on a little girl but stupid on a growth woman.

Please God, let it be a boy So much easier.

Ideally 2 or max 3 syllables. Surname begines with 'K' so not sure about alliteration. Dh suggested Christina - but a. unsure of alliteration, and b. absolutely hate the nn Tina (no offense to anyone please)

Another vote for Miranda here (it's impossible to shorten it) I also really like Octavia - but I'm assuming this isn't your 8th child?

Jane, Eve, Faith, Maeve, Tegan, Olwen, Bethan, Miriam, Merry, Berry, Edie, and Antonia with Nina for short would be gorgeous imo (but maybe too girly?)

I like Lottie but not a fan of Charlotte

I like Antonia, well, Anthony (again, boys name, sigh) but def no no with our surname.

It would have to be a 'Christian' name iyswim.

I think Charlotte for eg is in the right direction, but I just don't 'like' it iyswim. I mean, it's like buying a house and thinking it's OK, but not having that gut feeling iyswim. It seems a shame to just take something that's 'ok' but not really liking it. And that's where I am.

SO - Charlotte, I like,

Kathleen I like, but not Catherine, but can't have Kathleen.

Like Maria, but still too religious, sigh.

Like Laura, but in Germany, hate the pronunciation, so couldn't bear it.

Thinking along the Mary lines -

Maria
Marie (either Marie or Marie)
Marianne
Marilyn
Martha
Martina/Martine

Emma
Zoe

If you want to avoid girly names, would stick to ones ending in a consonant (i.e. not -a or -y/ie). What about

Eleanor
Jane (I LOVE this)
Abagail
Harriet
Constance
Agnes
Anne
Beatrice

I like Mary, too (and would probably also reject it for same reason as your DH).

Claire, Kathleen, Laura, Tamsin, Lena, Alice, Eloise, Danielle, Esme, Hannah, Julie, Sarah, Lauren, Michaela, Emily, Wendy, Anna, Anne...

Soupkitchen is right - what about Antonia (Toni?) which I think is lovely.

Also think names that shorten to Jo are good - unless your surname is Kerr.
