Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My husband wants the Cornish variation but I don't want two children with obscure names that I have to explain/spell out.

I like Consuela/Connie. But then I also like Purificacion/Puri and I love Adoracion or Dori/Dora

Richie definitely cooler than Archie and family connection always good

I prefer Marlborough! After the patron saint of Spain. Santo 20 Marlborough Lights.

georgiemama · 29/05/2008 21:45

But very Spanish!

Actaully my inspiration is coming from the wife of the 9th Duke of Marlborough, so couldn't be less peasant woman.

Consuela! euwww. Sounds like a poor guatemaltecan peasant woman.

staranise · 29/05/2008 21:39

Yeah, but I'm meant to be working... Normally ban MN when I'm working but it's been a long day...

Will consider Margot for a girl. Boy might already be a variation on Richard.

Consuela, please do, its lovely.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:37

I'm not her! Not married to a French guy!

We don't know eachother in RL. That would have been a disaster

Well, you're pregnant, you have an excuse. I should be doing something constructive so I hope nobody I really do know catches me here.

treacletart · 29/05/2008 21:35

Paloma, Clara.

staranise · 29/05/2008 21:30

Yup, first DD is Ines, second DD is Edith, often called Edie.

Only person I know with a child called Margot (which I love! V urban chic too, and pretty) was at college with me and is married to a French guy and lives in E London, I think, though I haven't seen her for years. She does have two children though

serin · 29/05/2008 21:25

Fabiana
Tatiana
Liliana

staranise · 29/05/2008 21:14

GE, do I know you in RL?!??!! Seriously, are you in London?

You made an accurate 'guess' of DD2's name...Have never heard it mentioned on MN before.

In shock...definitely require vino now

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:52

Sorry I will stop going on about wine now. I'm just passing the time because there's nada on the tv. Some people are actually choosing a name for a BABY.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:51

Posh wanted to call Cruz Luna if he were a girl. If she is a mumsnetter she could call a daughter taza lunar.... Is that disgusting. Sorry, I lose all judgement after a trickle of vino.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:48

There is one Beatrice in my dd's class, but I think she's the only one in the school.

What about Edith/Edie? That sounds born to be Ines' sister!

I love Santiago! I think now that the trend for names ending in O has taken over the World, Santiago is not as as it would have been 10 yrs ago!

Wdyto Bruno? Don't say bear. I wanted to call my son Bruno and I was not allowed .

staranise · 29/05/2008 20:39

Gosh, wish I was on the vino, but am pregnant with numero tres. Not sure we can get away with another Spanish name now we're back in the UK (though I've always liked Santiago for a boy ), Wonder what the Beckhams would call a girl (Cupcake? Hummingbird?!).

Love Beatrice as well, spelt Beatriz in Spanish. Now v fashionable in the UK, no?

Ellbell · 29/05/2008 20:39

Beatrice inItalian is pronounced Bay-ah-tree-chay. I love it!

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:31

Luz is gorgeous too. I'm full of gorgeous gorgeous this evening and it's not just the vino.

Not at all Beckham. I'd heard of Luz. I hadn't heard of cruz til they used it. I mean, I knew it meant cross but I think Luz is too mainstream for the Beckhams! YOU are SO CONSERVATIVE TSK!!!

geordieminx · 29/05/2008 20:25

Italian friends have Beatrice, which sounds lovely in italina - B-tret-chay?

ScaryHairy · 29/05/2008 20:23

Ilaria

staranise · 29/05/2008 20:23

Thanks GreenElizabeth (BTW, her middle name is Elizabeth )

Pronunciation of Celia would depend whereabouts in Spain you're from (or Lat.Am) as they don't all say 'th' for 'c'. Lia is also popular, which I love, as is Laia (pronoinced 'liar' so maybe not so suitable for the UK!)

My second DD's middle name is Luz, pronounced 'Luth', which I agree is probably a bit Beckham but again, I love it, and it is 'only' her middle name.
