In order of preference for me: Clara, Phoebe, Poppy

Agree 100%. Clara is fabulous. Phoebe isn't to my taste but perfectly nice.
Poppy Is so bloody twee. Cute for a pet dog or a toddler.

Clara

Poppy is very popular. I like Clara best (huge Heidi fan)

Clara is lovely, quite classic and elegant. Phoebe is not my personal taste (don’t like the double “ee” sound) but nothing wrong with it at all.

I know there will be more and more adult Poppy’s about now as it’s become so popular, but I’m personally not keen - it sounds too childish/like a nn to me (some people, especially with US links call their Dads or Grandads Pop/Pops/Poppy).

I find Phoebe such an ugly name …fee/bee has no redeeming qualities

HerdMentality · 29/07/2025 14:06

Phoebe, Clara then Poppy.

In order of preference for me: Clara, Phoebe, Poppy

Poppy is awful totally inappropriate after the age of 5. Can’t bear cutesy names for girls.

missabby · 29/07/2025 13:44

I love Poppy. We thought about it first time around but had sons so never got to use it. Phoebe is nice too I just prefer the sound of Poppy. I don’t think it’s especially cutesy either really, but maybe because all the Poppy’s (Poppies?) I’ve met have been adults over 25+ and have all grown into their names well. A mix of doctors, teachers, an librarian and one managing director. I’m not a fan of Clara as it reminds me of the character in Thomas the Tank Engine. Nothing wrong with that of course just personal preference.

Phoebe, followed by Clara (although personally I prefer Lara).

Poppy is cute, but that's the problem. She won't be a baby forever.

miniaturepixieonacid · 29/07/2025 13:40

I much prefer Phoebe, though Poppy is nice too.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 29/07/2025 13:29

Phoebe.

Both a nice names as is Clara but I think Phoebe works better as a grown up woman looking to be taken seriously.

NuffSaidSam · 29/07/2025 13:29

They are all nice but I like Phoebe best, then Clara and Poppy the least.

Poppy is too cutsey for my tastes and I do know a LOT of dogs called Poppy!

lunniss23 · 29/07/2025 13:27

I like Phoebe, i always thought Poppy sounded like a dogs name.
