Feminine Sounding Boys Names

I am a ‘frilly’ name person, I mostly like three syllable names and two middle names to match mine and DH’s. I have such an easier time with girls names, my girls list is close to a hundred names I would use but it’s so hard to find boys names I even like.

Lots of people on here seem to hate the boys names I like, calling them ‘wet’ or ‘feminine’ (as an insult?!) and assuming they’re going to get bullied- in my experience that isn’t true but is besides the point. If anyone has any names they like (or hate!) for boys that fit that criteria I would really appreciate hearing them.

Some examples of boys names I like:

Constantine
Gabriel
Augustine
Christian
Leander
Alistair
Ambrose
Dorian
Isidore

I love Constantine and Augustine but I wasn't brave enough to use them. I also considered Ambrose but everyone I mentioned it to said it was too girly and I should choose a strong masculine name instead 😥Leander is a lovely name.

Armando
Dante
Etienne
Fabian
Fernando
Gulliver
Lorenzo
Olivier (extra i is intentional!)
Orpheus
Vincenzo
Ysander

Alistair is my favourite from your list.
Also like Christian and Gabriel.

Love Lysander and Evander!

I like Gabriel, Christian, Leander and Alistair from your initial list.

I also love the suggestions of Aubrey and Llewelyn.

I’m not sure what the difference is, I know a little Lucian and it’s said ‘Lucy-un’. Is it like ‘Lu-shi-an’?

Yes exactly like that. The British English pronunciation is Lucy-un but I think the Loosh-un pronunciation is more US English. But then that’s how I’d say St Lucia as in the Caribbean Island. It’s nice either way imo.

Lots of lovely names on this thread. Love Gabriel especially for a Winter baby.

I absolutely love these you have no idea, if I didn’t have to (very slightly) compromise with DH I would be using names this out there!

I love Julien but husband vetoed it.
We were recently on holiday on France and out of about 10 boys taking part in one of the pool games 3 were called Julien!
Also love Gabriel.

Interesting you put Alistair in this style category, as a Scottish person I would put it on the same list as Iain, Campbell, Malcolm, Finlay and similar. I do like Alistair/Alasdair but see it as a totally different vibe.

I actually really love Campbell too! Malcolm was my dear grandfather’s name and is now a family middle name ❤️

I knew an Alasdair growing up and I thought it was lovely but he hated the spelling and only ever went by Ali :( I think they all sound quite soft, with the exception of Iain- beautiful names though.

Op I’m so sorry but your whole list to me would be a list of names that stand out for the wrong reason:(

It’s okay, I don’t mind though I’m curious what they bring to mind. I promise not to be offended, my name draws a lot of attention but always positive so I’m curious. If these stand out so would all of our names, a little James or Hugo just wouldn’t fit in.

I once read a book about a little boy called Cory and I just thought it was beautiful. A bit short for your specifications. Gabriel is beautiful.

If DD had been a boy, she’d have probably been Lucian. We’d have pronounced it more like the American way but the English way is quite frilly I think.

I’m not sure what the difference is, I know a little Lucian and it’s said ‘Lucy-un’. Is it like ‘Lu-shi-an’?

Since watching The Forsyte Saga on TV as a child (mostly around the side of the door as I should have been in bed) I have adored the name

Jolyon

and never met one, though it’s a real name - an older version of Julian.

But these lists are making me smile. Totally my sort of thing.
