oh pants

at least most of our correspondance is done via facebook and emails as we're far away from each other - maybe I haven't offended her to much

quickdrawmcgraw · 28/05/2008 10:20

Fe-un is the english pronounciation, finn the Irish. We had always been taught finn mccool (Fionn mac Cumhaill)
It's the same name and means white or bright. Usually though if someone spells their childs name Fionn I would pronounce it fe-un.

I love it - my nephew is Finlay and is gorgeous. It is becoming more and more popular now though.

quickdrawmcgraw · 28/05/2008 10:06

Fionn should be prenounced Finn but has gradually become fee-un.
I love the name Finn!

I really like Finn just as it is. I know a Finbar but it just reminds me of 'Finbar Saunders and his Double Entendres' from Viz comic in the 80s, if anyone remembers that.

dizzydixies · 28/05/2008 10:01

I have to say am not a huge fan of Finbar, I know of a Finton too but if it was me and I wanted a longer version I'd go with Finlay nn Finn

spareparts · 27/05/2008 23:28

I like Finbar too but DH put me off when he said it sounds like a place that fish go to get drunk.

Lol, Finn is just so damn cool/cute/handsome though!! It must be annoying watching your son's name become more popular, as I guess it was quite unusual when you named him!

dizzydixies · 27/05/2008 23:09

I like it but I also like Fionn which is the celtic version but pn the same

DragonsEye · 27/05/2008 23:07

waaaaa, go 'way. My ds (age 5) is finn and it's becoming too popular now. Freddie or Theo sound good

spareparts · 27/05/2008 23:07

Great pics on your profile page littleapin. Your son is scrumptious!

How about Finlo or Ffinlo? Apparently it's an old Manx name.. Or should I stick with Fintan or Finlay?

LynetteScavo · 27/05/2008 09:34

Amandella · 27/05/2008 09:32
