Caspian or Peregrine

Title says it all... Am now about to burst and need a boys name. Already have 2 DDs; Romany Eulalia (Romy) and Antigone Sapphire (Tiggy) and need a boy's name. Me and DH have narrowed it down to Caspian or Peregrine which we both love. I prefer Caspian and always have but DH worries people might think we have been 'inspired' by the new Narnia movie, he likes Peregrine more.
DS's sons middle names will be Xavier and James in any order. Help us oh wise mners!

So you revived it so you could call people judgemental bitches. Nice.

hypoxia · 19/02/2012 23:18

I know, but it's fun to hear what the rabble think of the name peregrine. Only two threads on the name come up with the search function.

crabb · 19/02/2012 23:15

This thread is almost 4 years old, folks.

seeker · 19/02/2012 23:06

To conflate several threads i've read recently, and with apologies to their originators- "Come on, Pretensiosa, lets's pop along to Waitrose to buy some rice cakes for the treat jar"

gallicgirl · 19/02/2012 23:05

I hope he comes out yelling "FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, PLEASE CALL ME STEVE".

But you knnow, each to their own and all that.

hypoxia · 19/02/2012 23:04

I think other parents can call their offspring whatever they like. There'll always be some judgemental bitches like you about though, sadly!

quitcomplaining · 19/02/2012 22:59

Assuming this isn't a wind up...

If I came across these names on my child's class list I would think oh god try hard, pretentious, twatty parent alert and would have a mental image of you before I even clapped eyes on you!

hypoxia · 19/02/2012 22:49

Peregrine is an excellent middle name, I wouldn't use it as a first name though!

JessJess3908 · 30/05/2008 21:40

OMG - I'm adding Orion to my list! Well maybe DP would just about let me have it as a middle name. Brian Orion?

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 30/05/2008 13:20

This is a spoof, n'est-ce pas?

onefunkymama · 30/05/2008 12:47

Both names are pretentious- sorry!

PrimulaVeris · 30/05/2008 12:32

Oh, I much prefer Crispin. Or Crispian

There is the original Latin Peregrinus too, of course

AtheneNoctua · 30/05/2008 12:31

They both remind me of work. The oil field is in the Caspian sea and out help desk software is made by Peregrine.

But I like plane Jane kind of names so perhaps my opinion isn't really the one you are after.

jkklpu · 30/05/2008 12:25

is this a test to see who can work out that OP was a piss-take?

BagelBird · 27/05/2008 22:31

I like Caspian. It is a little nuts but quirky and cool too. But then I loved the name Julian for a boy too when pregnant
Apollo, Orion and Atticus - not my bag. Quite like Zeph but feel sorry for the mite having to spell it and always spelling it out for others once finally got it.

MannyMoeAndJack · 27/05/2008 22:26

I'll buck the trend...I think Peregrine is a brilliant name!! I have always liked it but I have to confess, I wouldn't have ever been bold enough to use it myself but if you like it, then go for it!

artichokes · 27/05/2008 17:40

DH insists on calling my bump Atticus. I think it is very sweet.

lol...my dh would love ya....because he wanted Orion for ds 2....must say I put my foot down and he is now Yannic

cupcakesandcuddles · 27/05/2008 12:14

Well thanks for your honesty, we are leaning towrds Caspian but are now considering Apollo, Zephyrus, Orion and Atticus (My choice, I just love to kill a mocking bird) Hoping when he blesses us with his arrival he will just look like one name. Failing that we might just go for John, actually he's probably more likely to never meet a John his own age than any of our choices lol! (Couldn't actually call him John as John von surname would sound ridiculous) Will update when baby 'John' decides to grace us with his presence!

I prefer Peregrine.

If you are thinking of Caspian, I presume your surname doesn't start with C? It would be very tiresome to go through life with every smartarse calling you Caspian Sea.

LynetteScavo · 26/05/2008 21:21

Peregrine is really difficult if you can't say your Rs'

I prefer Caspian, although I love Perry, short for Peregrine.

CoteDAzur · 26/05/2008 21:17

Don't know about Narnia, but Caspian is a big lake. It's called 'Caspian Sea'.

It's like naming your kid Mediterranean, Atlantic, or Pacific.

Not so keen on Peregrine either, but at least that's a name. (Sorry)

SylvieBruno · 26/05/2008 21:03

Absolutely littlelapin, I know a Jem who carries that off no problem.
