My daughter is called Primrose and I have never regretted choosing it once!
Every time someone asks her name and I say Primrose everyone is so complementary of it saying how lovely it is! Xx

I think it’s lovely. It’s my daughter’s middle name. I’ve also heard it as a first name a fair few times

I like it and prefer the diminutive Prim to Rose or Rosie. In a similar vein, I love Marigold and would shorten to Goldie.

I like it. You never hear the name so it sounds really fresh. I think its a sweet name, I like Prim and you have all the Rose alternatives too.

Primrose is the name of Robert Shipman’s wife and the name always makes me think of her. That probably won’t be an issue for a younger generation though.

I love it - it’s one of my daughter’s middle names. I did think it was a bit twee for our family to use as a first name alongside our other daughter’s name though.

Wouldn't be my first choice but it's got a lot going for it. Nicer than a lot of the names you see here. You could trust a Primrose, she'd have your accounts shipshape in no time.

My Mum's best friend ( born in the 1920s) was a Primrose, nicknamed Prim. She was lovely so the nane has good connotations for me.
If I was of childbearing age, I would definitely consider it.

Harold Shipman’s wife is always my first thought and I wouldn’t want any name with ‘prim’ in it. Also the cow link.

I think you've confirmed my suspicions that it's a bit Marmite.

I'm too young (mid 30s) for the Harold Shipman references and the Hunger Games doesn't put me off - I like the nn "Prim"

It's interesting seeing the names suggested as alternatives as they're not names I'd shortlist at all! Just shows how subjective it all is :)

I don't think it works as a name for a person. The word makes me think of the holiday camp in Filey.

The only two I've ever heard of are the Hunger Games character and Harold Shipman's wife!
