Help!! I cannot name my son!!

I’m having an awful time trying to choose my son’s name (he’s here already). In my list are Rowan, Roman, Rhys/Reece, Rian, Reagan, Mason, Jayden, Jamie and Corey. Problem is right now he suits Corey, but I’m also aware he won’t look cute forever and am conscious of choosing a strong name that will see him through his later years, which my daughters will. With a boy, I feel like I want his name to portray strength, handsome & cool, which is asking a lot. From searches I’ve realised I’m more drawn to soft names and gender neutral names for boys.

I’d love something unusual like my daughter’s name but with boys I just can’t seem to find that. As my daughter’s name is 3 syllables, I’d ideally like at least 2 or long sounding name eg Rhys.

can anyone share their thoughts on my list and perhaps share any other names they think I might love….

boys names are harrrrrrddddd!

I like Corey

Lala87 · 29/05/2025 22:58

I've heard Corey being used as slang for todger

My DH said that, so unfortunately I had to choose another name.

Rowan is classic and timeless, will sound good anywhere, and not pigeonhole your son to a particular geographical area, era or demographic. What more could you ask for?

Biffsboys · 29/05/2025 23:19

I”ve only seen girls called Rowan . Aidan or Conor are nice

Tinseltotties · 29/05/2025 23:19

Roman is truly one of the worst names I’ve ever heard and I have no idea why it’s so popular.
most of the names you like for a boy are not hard masculine sounding names, but they’re nice names and he can grow into it and make it his own.

I like Corey, I think it fits all your criteria and I’m not sure why you don’t want it
please don’t use Jayden, and rian should be Ryan unless you’re Irish.
rowan mason and Jamie are fine, not my taste but inoffensive I think, I think mason is the only one that fits your brief though.

how about rory, Theo (though excessively popular), zander, milo, logan, Jacob, jasper,
or wild card ‘unusual’ names might be florian, Fabian, sorell, Aster, asher,

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/05/2025 23:18

Corey is lovely and absolutely suits a teen / adult as well as a child. I know a very cool teen Corey and by the time your Corey grows up there will be lots of adults with similar names as trends have changed and it will feel like a strong adult male name.

My personal favourite from your ideas is Rhys - love this name so much.

Love pp suggestions of Rory and Dylan too. Owen, Evan and Ewan have a similar feel, or Ellis, Koby, Cyrus, Silus, Ethan, Harvey, Spencer, Callan, Finley, Elias, Milo, Soren, Riley.

What about Cormac with Corey as nickname?

cherrycherryblossom · 29/05/2025 23:16

Roman or Jamie are my favourites from your list. I’d be careful with Rowan as I know of two and the pronunciation of both is different - one is like Ro-an and the other is row (as in argue) Row-an.

ButterButterBattle · 29/05/2025 23:16

Corrin, but Cory for a nickname?

OoohLaLaLa · 29/05/2025 23:14

Louis

Great name, ticks all your boxes and never taught a bad one.

boysmuminherts · 29/05/2025 23:13

I prefer Cory. Rowan and Roman are also solid names. Work for an adult also.

PizzaSophiaLoren · 29/05/2025 23:12

Rowan.
Please not Jayden.

Needmorelego · 29/05/2025 23:11

Jamie.
James on the birth certificate.
Good solid classic name.

Boopeedoop · 29/05/2025 23:11

Rowan, Ruben or Rory.

sunnyhoneybumblebee · 29/05/2025 23:09

I like Corey and Rowan out of your list.

how about Jude, Jesse or Jonah

Gulliver88 · 29/05/2025 23:07

You mention your daughter's name is 3 syllables.
What about ,
Sullivan
Atticus
Benjamin
Lots of surnames like Anderson

PanderBare · 29/05/2025 23:06

Rowan is by far the best on your list.
James is better and could be Jamie.
I don't like the others.

Suggestion: Robin

BorderTerrierTimesThree · 29/05/2025 22:49

Rowan or Rhys, cute for a little boy but strong and masculine enough to see him through teens into adulthood.

Agree. Really like Rowan.
I do like Jamie too. The ones I know are lovely men.

AnonWho23 · 29/05/2025 23:04

I like Rowan the most out of all your names.

I would like to throw Ethan into the mix. It literally means strong or firm.

AdaColeman · 29/05/2025 23:01

Roman is a fantastic name, I hope that's the one you choose.

InkWTF · 29/05/2025 23:01

What about Connor, Dylan, Declan, Ezra, Ellis, Xander, Xavier, Luca or Milo

Mandarinaduck · 29/05/2025 22:59

I think Corey is lovely and meets the brief of strong, handsome and cool.

I like it the best from your whole list.

RedBeech · 29/05/2025 22:58

For longer names I love Raphael/ Rafael (Rafe or Raffy) or Gabriel (Gabe/Gabby) which imo work in childhood and adulthood.

As a PP has said Nathaniel Nate/Nathan could also work
Zachary/Zachariah nn Zak, Zacky

Are these at all close to what you are after?

Lala87 · 29/05/2025 22:58

I've heard Corey being used as slang for todger

StrongandNorthern · 29/05/2025 22:56

Jamie.
How many syllables do you think Rhys has?
