Help with 1 week old baby boy - NO NAME!

Help please
i’m in tears every day about this but he has no name. Im desperate to settle but i cannot find a name we like.

We have 100 girl names but nothing for a boy.

we do not like “traditional common” names such as Chris, Tom, Harry, Nick, Ben.

we do not like names like Otto, Otis, Arlo.

we have a little girl called Aria (was not popular when we chose it) if this little one was a girl he would have been Otillie or Delilah.

we liked Jude but I’ve now met so so many baby Jude’s I just feel lost….

we quite liked Ellis but DH thinks it’s girly sounding. Also quite liked Dylan and Quin for a while but now it sounds so…. Over used?

urgh

These are all beautiful names.

Apollo365 · 11/05/2025 16:42

Or Elliott? Not met a single one

Apollo365 · 11/05/2025 16:41

Not Ellis but Elias?
Ellis not girly sounding to my ear

If you like Jude how about Judd? Not common at all and a bit more masculine.

Edwin doesn't have to be Ed - Win/Winnie is such a fab and positive sounding nickname instead.

Jud reminds me of the obsessive farmhand in Oklahoma! who is in love with Laurey, gets nastily taunted by Curley who sings about imagining Jud’s funeral, and ends up falling on his own knife and dying.

Reddelilah · 11/05/2025 16:38

Congratulations op!

I also love Quinn - it’s strong, cool and not too common. Aria & Quinn sound great together.

I also like Dylan, Cameron and Quentin (could shorten to Quin?)

Viviennemary · 11/05/2025 16:37

I don't like a lot of the names listed on here. Ilikd Isaac and Joshua. Some are really pretentious.

DelphiniumBlue · 11/05/2025 16:31

If you like Jude, maybe Julian? Justin or Jasper?

ItsASunnyDayToday · 11/05/2025 16:22

however about

dexter

Dylan was our second choice name and it was a very close call - I still absolutely love the name. And Ethan as pp suggested. Elliot is great too

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 11/05/2025 16:15

Vincent
Gregory

I kind of agree with your H about Ellis. Can't put my finger on it but it does have a feminine ring to it.

Quinn, I LOVE Quinn. Or Cam/Cameron and Beck.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 11/05/2025 15:46

I think I would have had Darwin if dd2 had been a boy.

Dont lose hope. Dd2 was nameless for 6 weeks 😅

Bobbysmumma · 11/05/2025 15:45

I love the name Quinn! DH wasn’t as keen so it’s DS middle name. Also love the name Ellis. Jude is very popular but I’d go with a name you like and not worry so much about popularity. One of my boys has a very popular name and there are none in his year and one other in the school. Another DC has a less popular name and there are so many in their year/school!!

Exmacgirl · 11/05/2025 15:43

We wanted something along the lines of Ellis or Elliott for our little boy, and in the end settled on Elias. I know others above have suggested it as well.

He is 2.5 now and suits the name so much. I'm sure you'll find something to suit your little one soon, don't worry 💙 Boys names are very tricky!

ImaginedCorners · 11/05/2025 15:38

Calm down and take your time! No need whatsoever for tears. We didn’t finally name DS until we were on our way to register him, and he was ten weeks old by then!

CatsWhiskerz · 11/05/2025 15:38

Dillon Dylan are lovely
Asa and Tate are less common I believe and fit with aria
Elliot is also nice and a bit like Edwin / Ellis

DC555 · 11/05/2025 15:37

If it helps at all, I love the name Ellis and don’t think it’s girly at all, in fact it’s our DS’s middle name, and I slightly regretted ‘wasting’ it in case we had another boy. His full name is Finn Ellis (surname).

We’ve met a fair few ‘Finley’s but no other Finns and haven’t met another Ellis. He’s three.

NuffSaidSam · 11/05/2025 15:37

I love Jude. Dylan and Elis are also very nice.

My suggestions:

Elias
Dominic
Leon
Xavier
Rufus
Casper
Atticus

LilyJosephine · 11/05/2025 15:33

Owen, Evan, Tristan or Flynn? Similar vibes/sounds to Dylan and Quinn and I think they fit well with Aria and are not overused.

unlikelywitch · 11/05/2025 15:13

I love Dylan!

Cillian
Alex
Elliot
Kai
Isaac
Fin
Evan

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 11/05/2025 15:12

Sounds like you like unisex names (Jude, Dylan, Quinn) so Elliot, Emery, Sage, Jesse, Morgan, Cameron, Francis, Jamie, Kit. Any of those appeal?
