We literally don’t like any names….

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

How about Elliot, Ellis, Emlyn, or Emrys.

Sorry I don't like it, agree with TheinT that it makes me think of the character in Keeping up Appearances (snobbish and unpleasant). What about Emmanuel?

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/05/2025 15:20

I'm thinking Dr Emmett Brown in Back to the Future.

TheignT · 11/05/2025 15:19

Character in Hyacinth Bucket. Where I am in the south west tourists are referred to as grockles not Emmett's.

Tulipsontoast · 11/05/2025 15:17

In Cornwall it is used to describe tourists. ‘St Ives is so full of emmets today’.

I met a little called ‘janner’ which the Cornish use to describe someone from Plymouth. She said that she gets a lot of funny looks when giving her name.

You like nothing else?

I like Emmett! If I’d had twin boys instead of one each I’d have gone with Emmett for the other one.
do you have other children? My boy has a similar sounding name and to his siblings he would be “Em” or “Emmy”

Twilight fan?

Down here in the West Country it means 'ant' and is used to refer to tourists, as in there are swarms of them. Elsewhere in the country you'd be fine I'm sure.

My first thought too - I live in East Anglia but am very aware of the term as used in the West of England.

BlueandWhitePorcelain · 11/05/2025 14:33

Yes - makes me think of ants! I am not from Devon!

flyinghen · 11/05/2025 14:33

I actually love it

SweetChilliGirl · 11/05/2025 14:32

Sounds like emetic to me - something that causes vomiting.

MadKittenWoman · 11/05/2025 14:31

This!
