Brother for Goddess-named sisters

Name changed for obvious reasons. I've shot myself in the foot with this one! I have two daughters, Artemis and Juno, and now I'm expecting a boy.

The obvious choice would be a mythological or God name, but I'm struggling to find one I like.

For context:
Artemis was named due to links to Artemisia of Caria (kick ass Persian naval war commander) and the Goddess as my Middle Eastern surname has a similar meaning to "Hunter".

Juno was one of the few names we had on our list and we just felt it suited her when she was born.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Caspar has always been on my list for a boy but it's the only name I have right now and DH is equally at a loss for ideas!

Half the dogs bought during COVID-19 lockdown are called "Loki".

Oh gosh don't remind me, my neighbours little terror was called Loki. Tiny little thing, he managed to jump my 5ft fence, so we got a 6ft one and he jumped that too. Apparently the new owner went higher still and he still managed to get over!

Sisyphus is nice.

I love Loki, wondering if we'd be asking for trouble with that namesake after having two very strong minded girls who certainly live up to their namesakes 😅

Just remember the lil dude has to live with it!

Exactly, which is why I'm starting with asking for a broad list on forums because baby name sites are massively overwhelming and, as I said, I shot myself in the foot with such distinctive names for his sisters.

Hector or Castor, as suggested by others. Hector is probably the nicest guy from Greek mythology.
Also really like Cassian as pp suggested.

sugarapplelane · 24/04/2025 10:06

How about Cassian?
With the new series of Andor starting on Disney I thought it was a fitting name ( and a lovely one)

This sounds like a game! It’s not - the poor boy will grow up with the name forever - it’s not about matching to his sisters it’s about this little human!

I'm looking for ideas, logically, it made sense to start with mythology 🤷‍♀️

Loki and Hector are both lovely names. Hector might be a bit more “normal” when said with Artemis and Juno, so I’d lean into Loki more.

It’s not that it’s pretentious, it’s that you seem to be naming your children according to a theme, like the Rooneys giving all their children ‘K’ names. I would definitely not use another god or mythology name for your son. Alexander or Hector, or something strong and plain.

That's fair. After Artemis we had a list of names from various backgrounds for her sister, but got the impression that it'd be weird if we didn't follow the goddess theme, especially as Artemis is beyond the realms of "normal" Goddess names and is a really strong one at that.

Hence wondering about God names for this one. But a strong name is definitely much needed with his sisters names!

Persian kings were on my original lists, definitely going to revise those again. After having two girls my brain is full of the names we didn't use, and being one of three girls myself I convinced myself [illogically!] that I was having another girl, so I'm at a complete loss as to what to name a boy! (and no gender disappointment, just a lovely surprise!)

I like Thor. Really strong name

Brian

"Now, you listen here! He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!"

(Couldn't resist.)

Cyrus is perfect. Especially with Iranian heritage

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 24/04/2025 09:53

Gabriel or Raphael?

IndigoViolent · 24/04/2025 09:53

12doublerolls · 24/04/2025 09:43

Adonis?

This always makes me think of the politician Lord Adonis - who very much wasn’t.

IndigoViolent · 24/04/2025 09:52

Eros has the added advantage that, if he rebels against your themed names as a teenager, he can just call himself Ross.

IndigoViolent · 24/04/2025 09:51

Nero? Eros?

NameforBabyBrother · 24/04/2025 09:39

Cyrus has been on my list before, I'm half-Iranian so it's a good link to that 😊

With your heritage, what about Navid, Darius, Kian?

JulesJules · 24/04/2025 09:49

Theodore or nn Theo
Leander or nn Leo
Alexander or nn Xander

JanSix · 24/04/2025 09:48

Thanks all!

Name doesn't necessarily need to fit the theme, but having ideas of where to start if it were to fit is hugely helpful!

And yes, I'm very aware of how pretentious my kids names are, it wasn't intentional 😅

Mars, Jupiter, Saturn.

Apollo, Atlas.

Eden, Aspen, Rock, Talon, River, Sol.

Agapornis · 24/04/2025 09:44

Relatively nice men from Greek mythology:
Hector
Patroclus
Orpheus
Perseus
Hephaistos/Hephaestus but only if you want to inflict horrible spelling issues on him

Morally more questionable:
Hercules/Heracles
Achilles
Odysseus
Hades
Dionysus

With your middle eastern surname, have you considered Persian kings? Cyrus, Xerxes, Darius? (Edit: sorry cross post)
