Darcy - girls name

So husband and I have only one name between us that we agree on: Darcy. I love it but recently the thought of arsey popped into my head. We live in Scotland if that has any bearing. I am English but husband is Scottish. Am I overthinking it and it’s still a nice name or is it definitely going to haunt us? If you say it’s a bad idea please suggest an alternative as we are really back to the drawing board after discussing names for months! 😭

Hmmm, arsey Darcy is something I've heard before, I'm not going to lie. There are so many unfortunate sayings/words linked to lots of names though, so it depends how much you let it bother you.

Daisy or Dulcie (Doll-see) have a similar sound.

I love it! I know a teen called Darcy and she’s never been called arsey!

It's more of a surname to me.

Thanks, appreciate your opinion. I’m not really fussed about it seeming like a surname if I’m honest. I am more worried about the arse connection 😂 I know some people don’t like surnames as first names but it’s not really something that bothers me. It’s also an actual first name that is widely used so it’s not like I’ve done something revolutionary with it. It’s not like calling your kid Smith or Jones.

I really like Darcy, and had never thought of it rhyming with arsey.

Do you like any of these:

Marnie
Delilah
Amelie
Iona / Ionie
Esther
Ruby

That’s reassuring. I do like Iona. I’m pretty sure husband has already vetoed this though.

I like it - makes me think of Darcey Bussell (but I prefer your spelling).
