I'm with Spidermama - makes me think of something warm and glowing, not dying. I quite like it I think it will get confused with Amber though (which I actually like less).

I don't think of embers as dying ... rather warm glowing remnants.

I agree it might sound like Amber said with an Ozzy or South African accent ... simply because people are very familiar with the name Amber so they will try to make sense of what they hear and may not have heard Ember used as a name.
