Look op, people on mn have a fairly narrow range of names they like or suggest, so my advice is to read the replies and use them to inform but not dominate your decision.

That said, I'm not a fan in these names either, for some of the reasons suggested - made-up sounding, potential pronunciation issues, they just don't roll off of the tongue particularly well etc. That tells you about my taste though. Unless you were suggesting something completely outrageous, it's your taste that matters.

Whoarethoseguys · 27/03/2025 18:32

Sorry I am not keen on either. Are you in the UK?

user0177561 · 27/03/2025 18:22

I quite like it when it is spelt as Lainie.

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 26/03/2025 15:35

Lacelyn sounds like some kind of antibiotic and Laney isn't a name.

shoopshoopdedoo · 26/03/2025 15:23

Personally, I don't like either. Laney is better than Lacelyn though.

How about Lena, or Laney as a nickname for Helena?

user1492757084 · 26/03/2025 06:17

No, neither are to my taste, sorry.
Do you like ..

Layne
Lena
Elaine
Aileen
Aleyne
Alana
Linley
Lindsey
Leslie
Elinor

And Lacey sounds like a lazily said Lazy.

oakl79 · 26/03/2025 06:01

Sorry but they're both terrible

SinisterBumFacedCat · 26/03/2025 00:23

I can’t work out how it’s pronounced but if it’s Lacey-Lin then No! Lacey is fine.

I am pronouncing it as Lah ceiling.

the g is silent

Pinkdreams · 26/03/2025 00:30

I love Laney, I know a woman who named her daughter laney, she’s beautiful and lovely

GiddyCrab · 26/03/2025 00:26

Both awful. Lacelyn is the worst.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 26/03/2025 00:23

I can’t work out how it’s pronounced but if it’s Lacey-Lin then No! Lacey is fine.

Drivingmissrangey · 26/03/2025 00:19

Awful.

mathanxiety · 26/03/2025 00:19

Laney is fine.

Lacelyn is dire.

Joolsin · 26/03/2025 00:16

Lacelyn is horrific.

Laney is ok, but better spelt Lainey.

Normallynumb · 25/03/2025 23:40

Sorry, but No to both. To me they sound like characters from Dynasty or Dallas( I’m old)

LauderSyme · 25/03/2025 22:28

I like them both, they are both lovely sounding words. I had Lacey on my list for a girl.

Really sorry about all the naysayers on this thread!

Is it Lay-seh-lin or Lay-slin? I prefer the former.

AstonishedWaiting · 25/03/2025 22:22

Bluntly, OP, both awful.

BatchCookBabe · 25/03/2025 22:19

Laney is not much better.

YourWinter · 25/03/2025 22:18

Awful, The Lainey I know is actually Elaine though.

Moreteaandchocolate · 25/03/2025 22:16

I love Laney as a nn, e.g. for

Delaney
Milena
Lena
Leilani
Elena
Helena
Alayna
Elaina

Mudkipper · 25/03/2025 22:16

Just no.

Lena, Lana, fine. Also Evelyn, Jocelyn, Rosalyn.

EdinburghTimezone · 25/03/2025 22:14

They sound made up and American. I'm not keen. But some people like these kinds of names so go for it if you do.

Mumofgirls2017 · 25/03/2025 22:11

Both awful but laney is better. Suggestions…
