Are all my boy names awful???

Please be honest; husband thinks they are

• Harris
• Franklin
• Roscoe

i am aware they are surnamey names that seems to be my style

Awful. They’re all a bit…..meh and forgettable or names for dogs. Whatever happened to names like Michael, Joseph or Christopher.

Sorry OP our labrador is called Rosco (without the ‘e’) I think it’s an often used name for dogs.

I like Franklin could have plenty of nicknames from that, not keen on Harris or roscoe

Roscoe just reminds me of Sheriff Rosco P Coltrane. I suppose that’s dated but it doesn’t sound like a real name. Franklin is slightly better.

I do think Roscoe is awful, sorry. Like pp it just makes me think of the Dukes of Hazard dog.

Franklin isn’t my cup of tea, but I’ve heard worse.

I quite like Harris, but that’s because I know a couple of lovely ones.

Roscoe is ok.

I quite like Franklin, and I think Harris and Roscoe and okay.

I'm not sure how we'd define a normal name, but Franklin at least has been used as a not that unusual given names for centuries, I've seen plenty of records with the name. I think Harris has as well. Not so sure on Roscoe.

Other names that are also surnames: Garrett, Fenner, Lachlan, Hallam, Emmerich, Curtis.

I think they are all terrible I'm afraid.

If your DH hates them then you'll have to find a compromise anyway, so it doesn't really matter what we think.

Not keen on Harris - 'Arris is cockney rhyming slang for arse! Maybe I'm just of a certain age and grew up in a certain area though...
