Jim

Jonjo

Or if you want the J sound with a different letter you could go for George.

Django? Sounds like J but starts with D...no confusion

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/02/2025 01:09

If you want something timeless and classic sounding then Joseph, John/Jack or James (James is my personal fave especially with the nn Jem - but don’t use James if you have a Jacob already, as it is derived from Jacob).

If you want something more uncommon then I think Biblical Jared is underused in the UK. I also personally quite like the sound of Cornish Jago and Irish Jarlath.

While the post thing isn’t as big a problem as it used to be, do at least make sure they have different middle name initial/s to try to limit confusion.

Please don't name him with the same letter as your other son. My mum did that with me and my brother and there was always a fight over post for L. NewHeaven.

There are 25 other letters in the alphabet, please choose another.

This!

And it's worse with two boys.

I would suggest that whatever name you choose, and plenty of suggestions have been made, that it is one with a conventional spelling. Do not burden your son with a lifetime of having to correct people.

I have a James and I loved Jack but couldn't use it bc of pronunciation where we live. I also like Joseph aka Joe, Joey etc.

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/02/2025 18:47

Have you read through all the J names in a baby names book or website?
