As in the title really!

Mila and Liam, Etta and Tate or Norah and Rohan?

Terrible idea

theduchessofspork · 07/02/2025 00:42

It’s too contrived and too twee - just pick names you like - they aren’t a pair of goldfish

Sorry to piss on your chips but twinny names piss most twins off - they are individuals - give them matchy middle names if you must.

MJconfessions · 06/02/2025 15:14

So would you consider Mila and Tate; or Etta and Rohan? Bit odd to only consider set pairs of names.

I don’t mind any of the pairs, but I do agree with the others to give them their own names/personalities outside of “twin culture”. You don’t need to do anything further to make it known they are twins, they will grow through life being acutely aware they have twins like enough attention will naturally be given to twin siblings.

KayEmAy · 05/02/2025 21:01

Norah and Rohan

EcruCardigan · 05/02/2025 16:21

@Whoarethoseguys , Rohan and Rowan are different names not different spellings, and are pronouced differently.

bluestarthread · 04/02/2025 22:48

None of the above. It’s too contrived - give them their own identities.

Yes. I hate twee names like this. Let them be individual. They’ll spend so many of their formative years being lumped together. They’re not a pair of dogs.

GreenTeaLikesMe · 05/02/2025 14:19

Please do NOT give your twins mitchy-matchy names; most twins who have had this done to them hate it. It suggests some sort of comedy duo or the kind of names you'd give a pair of puppies or goldfish, and it sets in process a general pattern of turning "twinniness" into the main feature of your children.

If I cam across twins named like this, I would assume the parents were very young or had a low level of education.

Whoarethoseguys · 05/02/2025 14:18

I agree with PPs don't give them anagrams of each others name. Just pick names you like. Also some of them are quite difficult to say together.
I like Rohan but prefer the more traditional spelling of Rowan and I like Etta so from your list I would choose Rowan and Etta.

GoldMoon · 05/02/2025 14:14

Mila reminds me of Millia ( those annoying white things that can come up on your face )

KnickerFolder · 05/02/2025 14:11

Fantastic idea for twin names if you are writing a novel but not in real life.

coronafiona · 05/02/2025 14:11

Oh don't do that to them OP. Give them proper names as individuals

saraclara · 05/02/2025 14:07

Adding my voice to the chorus. Your children are going to be individuals, and you need to respect that right from the off, by giving them names that you love and that are their own.

It's both naff and unkind to make their twin-ness your focus.

HundredPercentUnsure · 05/02/2025 14:06

Girls: I like Etta, Norah
Boys: I dislike all of them

GreyhoundGal1 · 05/02/2025 14:04

Mila and Liam out of the options, because they are both nice normal names by themselves. I do not like the boys names for the other options and it makes the anagrams too obvious.

If I wanted to link twins names I would only link middle names, or have a link between first name of one twin and middle name of the other however. So it's subtle but meaningful to you. For instance for girls Charlotte Rose and Lily Catherine, they feel connected but not super obvious.

BootballJoy · 05/02/2025 13:37

Mila and Liam, or Nora and Liam.

MaltipooMama · 05/02/2025 12:26

Oh I like the anagram idea, I think it's quite understated, with the three different options the anagram element is easy to spot but when they're introduced by whichever two names you pick I think it will rarely be spotted so I think it's quite a cool idea! Of your options, I would pick Mila and Liam, but in general I like Mila and Tate 😊

Catlord · 05/02/2025 12:17

It's naff sorry.

If you must then N&R. Least worst.

Etta and Tate is awful, too many Ts together, not particularly nice names, plus Andrew Tate association. Why not pick names that you love in their own right?

Needmorelego · 05/02/2025 12:15

I like Nora (spelt without the h) and Liam.
They don't need matchy names.

RuthW · 05/02/2025 12:12

Girls names are ok. Norah is the best. All the boys names are awful.

JPC123 · 05/02/2025 12:12

When I had twins, the only piece of advice I was given by other twins was not to give them twin names. I was told this several times by various people.

shoopshoopdedoo · 05/02/2025 12:11

Oh no! Please do that!

Jessieshome · 05/02/2025 12:06

I like the anagrams of each other idea, clever, sweet.

However Tate reminds me of Andrew Tate who is an abominable 'man' and wouldn't want anything associated with him.

I like Etta and Rohan.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 05/02/2025 11:51

Please don't give your twins matching names. As others have said, they need their own identities.

EcruCardigan · 05/02/2025 11:48

Just pick two names you like. Have you considered calling then Reginald and Veronica, Michelangelo and Minerva, or Thomasina and Jeremiah?

Sheeparelooseagain · 05/02/2025 11:19

I don't like the matchy matchy.
