Is this a completely ridiculous idea? I really like the name but I’ve lost sight of whether this is downright silly

i met a Charlotte and Scarlett at a baby group and though it was impossibly twee. Holly and Polly is…….worse. Sorry! Pollyanna might work.

StupidBitchy · 30/01/2025 16:27

F* the haters, if you like the name go for it. She won't be a baby forever she'll be her own person and your name will be irrelevant. It's really nbd.

I wanted to call DD Holly and my MIL persuaded me against it because our dog was called Molly and it would be confusing. I regret listening to her.

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 30/01/2025 16:26

Don't do it. It's confusing and easily misheard. So you'll never know who's being spoken about.

MousePolice · 30/01/2025 16:24

Both are lovely names but they do sound odd together. You’d introduce yourself to people at baby groups as Holly, Polly’s mum.

Maxorias · 30/01/2025 16:23

Maybe a longer Polly name would work ? Like Polina ? Paula ? Paulette ? Pauline ?

Dsdurga · 30/01/2025 16:23

Could you maybe have pollyana or something so it isn’t an exact rhyme

itsmeits · 30/01/2025 16:22

My first thought was OMG I hope little Polly grows up to have a Molly. And you have inadvertently created a spin traditional on mums name passed down.
There are not many Polly's around I love it. ❤️
Good luck @Nellyelephanty

Emanwenym · 30/01/2025 16:02

It's fine @Nellyelephanty ,but you'll get the odd comment.
I know several families with that sort of name combination, and the odd couple with names like Chris and Chris.
Polly is lovely.

BingoDingoDog · 30/01/2025 15:56

I think that's quite the statement but if you really like it then people will get used to it.

GiraffesAtThePark · 30/01/2025 15:56

You’re not going to use the two names together much so I say go for it.

I’d be against it if you were siblings but there are very few events or places where you’ll be introduced as “Holly and Polly”.

rubyslippers · 30/01/2025 15:55

Ooh not sure - it’s a bit samey and matchy matchy

what about Penelope or Penny ?

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 30/01/2025 15:55

Sorry, but no way is that going to work out. Please don't
