How many Jude’s do you know?

I’m thinking of calling my second DS Jude but I am worried about its popularity. I’ve personally never met a male baby or adult Jude but have seen about 5 influencers on Instagram naming their child this! It does put me off but would it be silly to not use it for this reason even though I love it? I had the same issue with the name Ezra with ds1 and in the end didn’t go with it because it suddenly got very popular when I thought I was being unique! I really don’t want a ‘trendy’ name for my child that will date badly. Is Jude one of those names??

2! One of whom is mine and he’s adorable. ☺️

1 female called Jude

BangingOn · 27/01/2025 10:16

Two in my son’s school, one in reception and one year 6.

cheesegromit13 · 27/01/2025 10:13

3 boys, primary school age.

Luminousalumnus · 27/01/2025 10:13

No Judes but one Judah, not shortened.

Dandylione · 27/01/2025 10:12

I know an adult Jude (woman in her 60s) and two little boys, one is 4 and one is 10. I like the name a lot.

WhatTheKey · 27/01/2025 10:12

Never met one. Absolutely lovely name imo, but forever entwined with the tragic Jude the Obscure for me.

Vermerling · 27/01/2025 10:12

One of DS’s friendship group, 13, and a former neighbour in the last place we lived, who is probably early 20s now, and a hippy surfer type with impressive blonde locks.

Someone I know called her child this. It's not unusual around here, but unfortunately I really dislike it. I think it sounds ugly and reminds me of Jude the Obscure ( who killed himself) Jude ( German for Jew) was scrawled on shopfronts by Nazis. It also feels like an abbreviation for a longer name ( like the female version.)

ItGhoul · 27/01/2025 10:10

I know three Judes. One is a colleague in his early 20s and the other two are kids - one is about 10 (son of an old school friend) and the other is a toddler (son of a colleague).

I've worked in a school, nursery and as a nanny and I've never come across a Jude. I absolutely love it though!
My auntie was known as Jude but her full name was Judith

Printedword · 27/01/2025 10:08

I know or know of about 4. Two are adults - a young man and a female friend in her 40s

stanleypops66 · 27/01/2025 10:05

2
One is 5 and make and the other is a female adult (mid 40's).

sel2223 · 27/01/2025 10:02

The only male Judes I know are law and Bellingham, none in real life.
I really like it - it would have been on our list if we were having a boy

I know one female who's actually Judith but has always gone by Jude. She's in her 60's

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 27/01/2025 09:59

Law, Bellingham, Hey, ice cream.

happystory · 27/01/2025 09:58

Worked in schools and nurseries and never known a boy called Jude. I like it!

cheekycee · 27/01/2025 09:57

2!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/01/2025 09:57

One in DS class, aged 7. Son if a wannabe influencer. I like the name.

OwlInTheOak · 27/01/2025 09:55

Never met a jude

I know one almost 4 year old. And it's bloody adorable on a little kid. It's also one of those great names that everyone knows but not many people are called so you won't have that awkward thing of a new teaching staring at a register trying to work out the next name that's written down.

I don't know any but it was on my short list for DS. We have a long surname and went with a two syllable name instead just because it felt more balanced

Whydoeseveryonewanttoargue · 27/01/2025 09:51

Two kids in my sons class (primary)
Three Jude’s in senior school
Two Jude’s from football

Popular around here I guess?
