What does the name Alfie make you think of?

I think its a classic boys name and its one of my current favourites. My husband says he just thinks of Alfie Moon from Eastenders and thinks its a bit of a common name for that reason. I've never watched Eastenders so don't have these connotations! Will everyone else?

It's twee and common. I think it will date badly.

Very cockney/essex. Hear it often in the voice of Kat Moon.

Haha yes! 'AWFEE!!, AWWWWFFFEEEE!!!'🤣

I associate the name with dogs, to be honest. Seems to be a popular dog name.

This.

I also have a pet named Alfie.

HonestCrab · 09/01/2025 03:34

Michael Caine also

Sunbird24 · 09/01/2025 03:21

One of my feral ex-neighbours’ kids, and a couple of friends’ dogs…

Clariceamelia · 09/01/2025 02:39

A budgie's name mainly.
Very common and a bit downmarket tbh, for a child

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 08/01/2025 22:03

East Enders
And dogs.....

queenmeadhbh · 08/01/2025 22:01

Don’t know any Alfies but just makes me think of the way some English people say it like “AOWFEE”. Cockney/Essex probably

itsgettingweird · 08/01/2025 20:47

Reminds me of a cheeky chappy - but that's because I've taught 3 Alfie's and they've all had fab personalities and a wicked sense of humour!

Wouldn't immediately think of Alfie from EE.

It's a nice name.

Notrynajudge · 08/01/2025 20:30

Try hard mockney. Jamie Oliver type.

Mischievous kids! When I was a teacher Alfie's were always mischievous and never that bright!

Orphlids · 08/01/2025 20:06

There are so many Alfies around that the name has become incredibly boring. I remember about twenty five years ago, my housemate said if she ever had a little boy, she would call him Alfie. I was secretly horrified, because it was the most awful name I’d ever heard. I just had an image of a juvenile delinquent, robbing old ladies and smoking from the age of nine. Of course these days I’d never think anything so snobby!

Lidlisthebusiness · 08/01/2025 18:22

I just think it's boring and common. I have a relative named it, and when he was born, the Mum was so nervous about announcing it as it wasn't in use again yet. But now, everyone and their dog is called it, along with all the 'ie' ending names.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 08/01/2025 18:18

I watched the movie 'Alfie' starring Michael Caine and have despised the name ever since due to his character being annoying and borderline nauseating.

Alfred is classic.
Alfie is twee.

ButterflyBitch · 08/01/2025 18:17

I work in a school. There are lots of Alfies. It’s a nice enough name but overused (in my opinion). If you like it then go for it.

I think of the children books by Shirley hughes..... Alfie and annie rose. Were a family favourite when my children were young ❤️

I love the name Annie Rose
Alfie makes me think of Michael Caine (I've never seen the film though ) and Cilla Black singing "What's it all about Alfie"
