How does the name Archer sound for a baby boy?

We are going to have a baby boy soon, and I really like the name Archie. However, I’m not sure if it will suit him as he grows up, so I was thinking of naming him ‘Archer Storm’. I was wondering if the name Archer is common and if it pairs well with the middle name Storm. Also, any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’d love to have a trendy English name rather than a more traditional one 🥰

Archer sounds so American to me not my cup of tea. Archie is nicer but k get it's quite pop you might want to choose something a bit different.

Archer storm though is just ridiculous, please don't name the child that.

localnotail · 04/01/2025 11:13

Archer after Jeffrey Archer? And Storm after a female comic book character? Weird combination.

You do realise that "trendy" names are trendy for a short period only and after that they are cringey and laughable? Poor kid.

I like it. I prefer Archer to Archie.

Me too.

Storm? Jesus why

IkeaJesusChrist · 04/01/2025 10:53

No, just no.

Your poor kid.

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 04/01/2025 10:50

Archer? American but fine.
Archer Storm? Porn Star.
By all means use Archer but it's the type of name that needs a more classical name with it to avoid sounding like a porn star.

MissionaryMumtoOne · 04/01/2025 10:19

Archer is fine, I even like it, but not coupled with Storm. Archer Storm is terrible.

CwmYoy · 04/01/2025 10:07

Please don't do this. He will be teased at school.

I could hear the theme music to The Archers as I read the mail.

Parents really should be more careful what they inflict on DCs.

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 04/01/2025 10:05

Sorry but I would be humming The archers theme tune. Storm is nice.

AllThePotatoesAreSingingJingleBells · 04/01/2025 10:03

Sounds awful.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 04/01/2025 10:02

Archer Storm?
This has got to be a joke?!??!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 04/01/2025 10:01

Archer yes, storm no

Enko · 04/01/2025 10:01

I like Archer. Not keen on Archie personally but I do like Archibald and would use that rather than Archer if wanting Archie for a nn

RosieCockle · 04/01/2025 10:00

Why name your child after bad weather? If you'd be alright being called Cloudy or Drizzle then crack on.

Snoopystick · 04/01/2025 10:00

If he wrote his signature then it becomes Archer S - either radio program or a drink if that sways you in any way?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 04/01/2025 09:59

IMO Archer sounds a bit wibbly, as though you like the name Archie but wanted him to be 'a bit different' to the millions of Archies currently running around. Everyone will mishear it as Archie anyway. And call him Arch or Archie.

Storm - well, if you must. Nobody uses their middle name anyway, which is why it's normally used as the receptacle for family names that the parents don't like but want a child to have invisibly. So it doesn't really matter past the first four or five days after birth when everyone asks what you're calling him.

TotallyTwisted · 04/01/2025 09:59

I'd swap the order and go with Storm Archer. Then there's an excellent chance he'll feature in a weather warning one day.

Namechange1345677 · 04/01/2025 09:57

Archer is fine....Storm is not

wantnoscrubs · 04/01/2025 09:56

Can you spare Archer with a traditional name like William or Thomas? I think that makes Archer sound 10000% nicer

wantnoscrubs · 04/01/2025 09:55

What are your other options

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 04/01/2025 09:51

Only Archie I know gets called Arch! Archie reminds me of a 60s pop group, Archer one of Star Trek's captains.
