Nicholas?

Thoughts? To be shortened to Nick but full name to be Nicholas on birth certificate. I love it but doesn’t seem very popular anymore (not necessarily a bad thing!)

Excellent name, and also works/translates in a lot of languages, e.g. Niccolo in Italian.

So underused now and very classic. If you can get past the “Knicker- less” thing (may not be a problem in school now, I have no idea) then it’s a great name. However imo it would be a shame to shorten to boring Nick - Nico or Cole are much cooler 🤣

Nicky is so sweet!

I know sooo many female Nickys (short for Nicola and Nicole) that i associate it with girls.

Congratulations OP! I love Nicholas. Just in terms of my personal preference I find Nick quite grown-up for a very tiny baby. Nicky or the full name of Nicholas are both lovely while he is little, giving him Nick to grow into if he likes when he is older.

he wouldn’t be called Nico ever. He is Nicholas or Nick!

I know a 10yo Nick/Nicholas. Knicker less stuff has never been a problem. It’s lovely!

I know a Nick (Nicholas officially) in his 60s

Never been called knickerless.

Strong, trustworthy, solid name.

I went to school with a few Nicks and don't remember any knickerless teasing

It is the perfect mix of feminine and also really strong. Well known but not too popular/common. Travels well and can be pronounced in many countries and just a really elegant name. Xx

Really like Nicholas. It was on our shortlist (with nickname Nico) had DD been a boy, as she was born on St Nicholas' Day.
