Currently pregnant with third. These are my lists for each as we don’t know if we’re having a boy or girl. DH was very derogatory about a lot of them but is yet to come up with any suggestions! Which is best?
Cora
Constance (Connie)
Sadie
Lanie
Carys
Niamh

Daniel
Miles
Stanley
Benjamin
Flynn
Fletcher
Carter

Lucyaugust2007 · 28/12/2024 15:42

I love Connie and Sadie.

Snowmanscarf · 28/12/2024 11:06

Cary’s and Benjamin

OliviaFlaversham · 28/12/2024 09:22

Cora - Like. Not too fussy or too plain
Constance (Connie) - too formal and weirdly too frilly at the same time
Sadie - Really like
Lanie - Really dislike
Carys - dislike
Niamh - OK

Daniel - Really like. Traditional yet not overused.
Miles - Dislike. Opens itself up to too many miles jokes.
Stanley - Really really dislike. Dreary.
Benjamin - Really like
Flynn - Dislike
Fletcher - Really dislike
Carter - Really dislike
I’m not keen on any surname or occupation names.

sel2223 · 28/12/2024 09:11

Sadie and Laney I like from your girls list - what about Leonie?

Miles and Benjamin for a boy

VenusClapTrap · 28/12/2024 09:02

I like Constance and Stanley.

user1492757084 · 28/12/2024 04:41

None of your names are offensive.

The ones suiting my taste are ..
Constance (only as a second name), Carys and Niamh.
Benjamin and Flynn.

Do you like..
Saoirse
Johanna
Jane

Patrick
Evan
Michael

HonestCrab · 28/12/2024 02:22

Not keen on any of your girls names but Niamh.
Of the boys I like Stanley. Daniel and Benjamin are perfectly acceptable if you want a traditional name but Stanley is a bit fresher. It's due a comeback.

AutoP1lot · 28/12/2024 01:47

Sadie, Constance, Carys

Miles, Flynn, Benjamin

ThatMauveRaven · 28/12/2024 01:04

Not a huge fan of any on your girls list but Cora is my preference. Cara is a nice Irish alternative and less common than Niamh. Really dislike Constance or Connie in particular - Constance is very harsh + overly formal, Connie is the opposite (and not in a good way). Sounds like a dog name and always reminds me of Connie The Caterpillar.

Love Miles and Flynn from your boys list. The Myles spelling is nicer though

Pumpkinpieees · 28/12/2024 00:16

Cora - OK, prefer Cara
Constance (Connie) - like
Sadie - not keen
Lanie - dislike
Carys - not keen
Niamh - OK

Daniel - really like
Miles - OK
Stanley - OK
Benjamin - really like
Flynn - dislike
Fletcher - really dislike
Carter - really dislike

CrashThere · 27/12/2024 20:58

@Herewegoagain8 , Carys was very popular in the 1960s in Wales. It's like Karen or Julie or something.

CrashThere · 27/12/2024 20:53

Constance (Connie) - like
Sadie - ok
Niamh - too many Evies, otherwise ok
Cora - ok-ish
Lanie - not ok
Carys -dated and not very nice

Benjamin like, he'll be Ben
Daniel - great but he'll be Dan
Miles - quite like
Stanley - ok, he'll be Stan
Flynn - too surnamey
Fletcher - Porridge
Carter - The Sweeney

hatchedby2chicks · 27/12/2024 20:38

I like Connie, Cora is next best.

Boys if you like Fletcher what about Parker? I really like it but don't think I'd be brave enough to use it.

Ben is nice but I don't like Benjamin

CookieMonster28 · 27/12/2024 20:27

Lanie and Stanley my favourites

mathanxiety · 27/12/2024 20:04

If your H has close links to Ireland, Cora is probably going to sound very dumpy and not at all chic to him.

The surnamey names are going to sound very alien.

Suggestions:
Lena
Grace
Annie

Austin
Donal (Irish name, the O rhymes with phone).
Cillian/ Killian

mathanxiety · 27/12/2024 19:58

From the lists, I like
Girls:
Sadie
Carys
Niamh

I'd have a hard time choosing between Sadie and Carys, with Niamh a very close runner up.

Dislike the rest; though Constance is nice I hate Connie.

Boys:
Miles / Myles
Stanley
Benjamin

I like the boy names in order Myles, Benjamin, and Stanley.

I really dislike the rest of the boy names.

Jostuki · 27/12/2024 19:50

Cora - ok
Constance (Connie) - ok
Sadie - nice
Lanie - awful
Carys - no
Niamh - no

Daniel - nice
Miles - nice
Stanley - no
Benjamin - nice
Flynn - ok
Fletcher - NO
Carter - awful

RosesAndHellebores · 27/12/2024 19:10

I like Cora and Sadie, a bit.

Niamh and Carys (are you Welsh or Irish?l

Benjamin

Miles and Daniel are fine, providing not pronounced as Miyaaw and Danyaawl.

DH is from an Irish catholic family. He’d never heard of Carys and we don’t have a Welsh connection so that one might be off the list too.

Sorry I don’t like your girls’ names. We must have completely different taste. Of your boys’ names I like Daniel.

Fair enough, we can’t all like the same! I’m open to suggestions as like I say DH was dubious about my list too.
