I still really like Clemency - yes I know everyone hates it?

i love Raphaëlle because it’s one of my favourite characters and I love Raph as a nickname

but was watching a Danish film ans the heroine was Vigga and I really liked it

Calista DH is keen on still
Sigrun he also likes

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 28/11/2024 19:53

I would do Vida, Clemence or Rafaella, all very pretty and a little more manageable

Hotflushesandchilblains · 28/11/2024 19:52

Clemency, Raphelle, and Calista are nice.

Sigrun does not sound pleasing in English. And Vigga sounds like something flat pack from IKEA

Cocothecoconut · 28/11/2024 19:49

Poor kid 😞

BabyFever246 · 28/11/2024 19:01

Vigga will be called viagra.
Viggo would be better, but maybe that's just because my mind goes to Viggo Mortensen

Well, that’s generally a good thing, but perhaps not for a name for a baby girl!

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 28/11/2024 19:43

It sounds like a word that could be confused with a very negative racial slur. So it’s a no from me.

LadyGabriella · 28/11/2024 19:38

Vigga is terrible.

FleaDog · 28/11/2024 19:37

Vigga

Middle name Russ?

Moreteaandchocolate · 28/11/2024 19:33

Calista is nice and you have the gorgeous nn Callie, which is beautiful 🤩

Moreteaandchocolate · 28/11/2024 19:32

Pollyanna87 · 28/11/2024 19:22

It seems everyone thinks it’s too similar to ‘viagra’, but I think it’s too similar to a racial slur, frankly.

yes that’s what I thought- secondary school would be a nightmare!

Vigga would be good if you live in Scandinavia- doesn't really work in the UK, also sounds like viagra

The world is very mobile. I know plenty of people from other countries with names that are not common here and no one bats an eyelid. Well no one half educated who has experience of more than their village.

Pollyanna87 · 28/11/2024 19:22

You can NOT be serious?! 😆 Vigga?! 😂

MugPlate · 28/11/2024 19:19

I’m sure it’s fine in the countries of origin.

But not here.

countrygirl99 · 28/11/2024 19:16

Vigga sounds like a sofa from IKEA

Helpimfalling · 28/11/2024 19:14

Vagina
Viagra

Sigrun is also awful.

The others are lovely

Solasum · 28/11/2024 19:13

Does It sound like ‘Vigour’ ?

Topseyt123 · 28/11/2024 19:11

Knowing the meaning of Clemency, I wouldn't use it. Clementine instead?

Vigga is just ludicrous. Sounds like Viagra as others have said.

Sigrun isn't bad, nor Callista. Raphaella too perhaps. None to my taste though.

I think you are trying to be a bit too "out there." Sorry.

CarrotPencil · 28/11/2024 19:07

Wow it’s very different vibe to Clemency!!

My first thought was another word ending in -igga sadly! Really don’t think you can do that.

Raphaelle is nice and interesting and cool.

JC03745 · 28/11/2024 19:05

I wrongly assumed Vigga was a boys name. Not a fan myself.
Calista is ok.
I worked with a Raphaella. Not sure if that is the spelling. She was Italian.

Jane159 · 28/11/2024 19:04

Vigga is awful. The definition of Clemency is 'lenience when given a punishment' and makes me think of jail. The male version of Raphaelle is one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it's only really used as a male name here. Sigrun is really ugly. Definitely don't call her Viggo it's a male name meaning war!

Stick with Calista. It's actually nice. Or are you deliberately trying to find the most disliked name in existence to give your child?

2110l · 28/11/2024 19:04

Make sure that you give your child a name that won’t embarrass them. I went to university with someone with a very odd name and she was given a book of baby names as a prize at some student do.

Bristolnewcomer · 28/11/2024 19:03

Vigga just sounds like “vigour”, which isn’t bad but is a hit of a weird name. I like Clemency I think that’s beautiful and I know what it means.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 28/11/2024 19:03

Calista is the only nice name out of those
