I like it! Don’t agree it sounds harsh at all

Imcrc · 17/07/2021 07:52

I love it!! I wanted to use it if we had a boy

peaceinourtime · 16/07/2021 11:13

Axel is nice. I knew a girl called Axelle also nice.

@FerretBraces

I really hope there is a very cool 12 year old Axel Bas somewhere out there 😎

And that Skyler was born on the eve of Breaking Bad being released 😁

This made me laugh. I hope so too.

I never mind zombie threads being brought up again. It's a chat forum after all.

Very, very 'middle-aged man' name here in Germany - it would be a bit like calling your child Craig or Bruce - and it does sound exactly like 'armpit' in German. Axel Bas does have a certain ring to it, though.

Maggiesfarm · 15/07/2021 03:32

It's OK. I think of Axel in 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth', which I read when young; also a heavy metal rock star in a kilt and last but not least, motor mechanics!

It is quite unusual for the UK. I don't think I'd choose it but it's up to you.

Kanaloa · 15/07/2021 01:12

I think it’s very cool. It reminds me of the programme The Middle which is my mid morning treat when the kids are at school!

OP how is your Axel finding his name now that he's 13 years old?!

Great names, both.

TwinsAndTrifle · 14/07/2021 22:44

Axle grease.

Sorry.

IggysPop · 14/07/2021 22:42

My ds has Axel as a middle name and it's very popular

pointydog · 28/04/2008 18:45

guns n roses.

Teutonic sounding (Axel shaeffer)

Does sound like a piece of machinery. Like Cog. Or a skating move, triple toe axel.

However if you are a scandinaviany, teutonicky sort of family it might work perfectly for you.

beforesunrise · 28/04/2008 18:29

eehhrr... your SPROG

beforesunrise · 28/04/2008 18:29

and moreover if you were a real guns n roses fan you'd call your sprong Slash, surely???

beforesunrise · 28/04/2008 18:26

what do you mean Belgo??? G'n'R will rule for ever and ever :-)

belgo · 28/04/2008 13:46

But Guns n Roses haven't been around for years - the AXL Rose reference will mean absolutely nothing to the next generation.

nickytwotimes · 28/04/2008 13:46

Not for me.

katz · 28/04/2008 13:45

not my cup of tea that one
