As in title what do y'all think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Chavtastic.

jaimelesoleil · 06/11/2024 16:10

Ruby yes...Jade no

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/11/2024 16:00

It’s giving Ruby and Garnet from Double Act! I don’t like it OP, sorry.

My exact thoughts!

I like Jade, but Ruby sounds trashy to me.

I was thinking the other way round

What!!! 20+ Ruby’s?!!

Yes
One boy and 27 girls
2 where not called ruby-mine and my friend
It got to the point, when leaning into the pram to coo,you didn't ask the name
You'd have thought that after the first 10 or so,the later parents would have changed their minds on the name of their babies but they didn't seem to notice
19 Ruby's started school over two classes a few years later (a school with a lot of movement thanks to it being in the catchment of the local uni-a lot of students there sent their kids)

It was the joke that they'd put something in the water around that time!

Ruby is ok, Jade is very dated. So many names which flow better together.

User28473 · 06/11/2024 04:12

I think they are ok, but sound unoriginal as a matching pair particularly, as they were both very popular not too long ago. Jade in the 90's and millions of Ruby's early 2000's.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/11/2024 22:04

If they get a little sister, you could call her Amber. Red, Amber and Green. You'd only have to call "traffic lights" to make them coming running.

anonny55 · 05/11/2024 22:00

@Onlyvisiting with you on that! All the jades I know are trashy to🤣

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 05/11/2024 21:58

MerryChristmasToYou · 05/11/2024 21:22

Call them Ruby and Donna. They can dine out on it.

I also like Scarlett which I think fits though maybe a bit too much red.

I like Ruby but not Jade. It's not a bad name in itself but the associations I have with it from people are common as muck/trashy. (And I'm def working class myself)
I'm not over keen on matching names for twins tbh, they are children, not pets. Pick 2 individual names you love.
I do like long names that have NN potential so the kids have the chance to pick a variation if they prefer it.

On your theme.

Amber
Opal

Very outing, but 17/18 years ago,28 of us school mums all fell pregnant around the same time (the births where all between the july to the sept)

27 where girls-one boy

All where called Ruby, bar my dd and my friends dd

The Kaiser chiefs have a lot to answer for!

It's a nice name-i work with one but it's massively overused

What!!! 20+ Ruby’s?!!

chattyness · 05/11/2024 21:40

Love them both O P , Opal goes well with Ruby

AcrobaticCardigan · 05/11/2024 21:28

I love the ‘jewel’ names & absolutely love both names. I think it’s nice to have different but connected names for twins & IMO two gem names is less matchy than two names starting with the same letter, which plenty of people do for siblings. You can’t please everyone! I heard of a Sapphire once, which I thought was a stunning name!

PiggieWig · 05/11/2024 21:22

I really like them. Jade isn’t as popular as it was 20 years ago, but the two young women I know called Jade are both really lovely, strong and a little bit quirky.

I think they go well together.

MerryChristmasToYou · 05/11/2024 21:22

Call them Ruby and Donna. They can dine out on it.

RuthW · 05/11/2024 21:17

UltramarineViolet · 05/11/2024 14:50

Not awful by any means but the combination is a bit twee and also feels a bit dated (90s/00s)

Exactly this

Laalaalaand · 05/11/2024 21:17

They're not a pair of poodles. Having matchy names for twins is awful.

salamithumbs · 05/11/2024 21:14

I'm not that keen on Jade but I don't thinking two jewels are too matchy! I love the name Amber if that's a possibility?

BodenCardiganNot · 05/11/2024 21:02

Years ago I worked with a woman who had twins - Ruby and Jade. She then went on to have Pearl!

ThePoshUns · 05/11/2024 21:01

I think they go nicely together.
