We’re looking for baby names that are rare but not trendy. We like Mabli and Frances for a girl and Ivo and Cyrus for a boy but we don’t love any of them. We’d like names that are a bit out there, but not modern. Any ideas?.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone, we have a long list sorted now. Will try and narrow it down before baby comes.

Yes that’s all it is to my knowledge. But quite radical and I’m always a bit squeamish about naming children anything with political implications. For that reason I’d never shorten Victoria to Tory! But Fabian is a stronger link than that realty and your Dc might not be socialist!

I have a little Vesper.

It's technically unisex but I've always thought of it as more feminine.
It does get the odd raised eyebrow but also a lot of compliments.
Very old Latin name.

We do love Frances, but it doesn’t feel like THE name. It’s still on our list though.
