Emery, for a girl

suzettenoisette · 28/10/2024 21:09

It's new to our list.

Emery for a girl, nickname Emmy. I also like Emma, but know too many my age and older.

Would you pick Emery or Keira? Others on the list are Phoebe, Sophie, Ruby, Everly, Isabella "Bella", Poppy and maybe Emma.

Hmm, not sure. Slot is much nicer. Or how about Arteta?

As in emery board? Its a no from me, but what about Emmeline? Nn Emmy?

Exactly what I thought.

HoratioNightboy · 31/10/2024 16:07

I quite like it OP, and have seen it spelled Emory in some older records. It was a unisex name in mediaeval England, and the Latin form for girls was Emeria, if that's an option for you.

Anisty · 31/10/2024 08:04

Sorry. I don't like it at all - it's an Emery board.

Makingchocolatecake · 31/10/2024 07:43

I really like it but feel bad that the child would spend most of her life correcting people that she is not called 'Emily'

user2848502016 · 30/10/2024 20:54

Emery board...

Emma is much nicer

curlycurlymoo · 30/10/2024 20:45

Villa fan??

MyBrownEyedHandsomeBoy · 30/10/2024 20:31

Going against the grain here but I like it op

And I personally actually never use the world emery board I always say nail file anyway

She is your baby and up to you what you name her and I've heard much much worse names.. one which always sticks in my mind being Labia 🤭 and another one being Blade 🥴 ouch

Justsayit123 · 30/10/2024 20:25

Just no!

Zampa · 30/10/2024 20:24

I have an Emma and we've met maybe one or two in her 8 years. It was hugely popular in the 80s but not so much now.

AlexaSetATimer · 30/10/2024 20:21

Adding to the chorus of No's on the Board here.

How about Hemera, if you're after something a bit more unusual - pronounced HAY-muh-ruh?

https://nameberry.com/b/girl-baby-name-hemera

I would be afraid that Hemera would get called Haemorrhoid... 😳😨😬

ffsgloria · 30/10/2024 20:11

I like it!

ZZGirl · 30/10/2024 20:09

Change the spelling to Emerie

stormwarrierridesthewaves · 30/10/2024 20:02

For what it's worth I wouldn't have thought of an emery board.

Lifelover16 · 30/10/2024 19:52

Emery board. It’s a no from me.

stormwarrierridesthewaves · 30/10/2024 19:50

I once met an Emory (pronounced the same).

Once I got to know her I grew to like it.

MerryChristmasToYou · 30/10/2024 19:13

Board

Charlotte120221 · 30/10/2024 10:23

sounds too much like Emily - she'd spend her whole time correcting people.

user1492757084 · 29/10/2024 17:15

Emma is so classic and adorable.

Emery is nail bitingly questionable.

Others:
Mary
Erica
Emily
Ester
Aster

leia24 · 29/10/2024 05:56

I've met an Emira?
Or Emily, Emmeline, Emilia.
Not Emery. Why not just Emme? I know an adult Emme (pronounced Emmy) and it's really nice

Mingusthebrave · 29/10/2024 05:15

How about Emerald?

maudelovesharold · 29/10/2024 00:52

Emer is an old Irish name, pronounced Ee-mer, so you‘d get most of the spelling of the name you like, without the ‘y’ making it into a manicure implement!

BettyBardMacDonald · 29/10/2024 00:44

God, no.

Keira is the lesser of the evils.

Mirren22 · 29/10/2024 00:33

Emerson?
