Thoughts on the name Austin/Ostin. We live in the UK and are a mixed race family (if that makes a difference). Please be really honest.

Oh well, I won't be losing any sleep over it 😂

You still commenting?! For someone who was annoyed this post was active and I had too many threads you are actively contributing to it's retained status at the top of the active threads list! 😂 Thanks for that. 😜

As I said you, your comments and the amount of sleep you get are of no interest to me so get lost and go and troll someone else. You're input is of no worth and you are boring.

You have embarrassed yourself, but I suppose its ok when you hide behind your screen to be a keyboard warrior. Don't comment again.

Nope absolutely do not accept your apology because you getting involved in the first place was absolutely unnecessary and uncalled for. You admitting that you basically just jumped on the comments of the previous poster without actual reading it for yourself speaks volumes for the type of person you are.

Also because you don't like the spelling of Ostin means you can be rude and insulting? I Don't think so. You should learn to give an opinion on the topic without resulting in insulting people.

So your comments good or bad are completely of no interest to me.

Ostin is awful. Austin is fine.

MirandaBlu · 24/10/2024 19:38

Austin makes me think of the city in Texas - like he might have siblings called Houston and Dallas - while Austen is more obviously a surname adapted to be a first name and has been a bit popular lately because of the Jane Austen reference. I've never come across Ostin. If it's a family name I'd definitely use the spelling that was (mainly) used historically in the family, otherwise Austin or Austen over Ostin.

LikeTalkingToLassie · 24/10/2024 19:38

Austin Morris has a cosy retro feel to it.

@Iwouldliketogoonholiday please accept my apologies, I had you confused with someone else. I took what a previous poster said and due to the Ostin spelling thought you were another poster who has posted many, many threads with random, mispelled names.

Why not have Maurice as a first name and Austin as a middle name ?

FinishTheBook · 24/10/2024 17:37

I know a couple of people called Austin, it's not to my taste but it's a perfectly nice name.

I do really like Zach so I'd go for Zachariah.

I also think you should post lots more name threads, just to annoy the arseholes who are trying to police you. 😉

Thank you, we do like Zachariah and that is the front runner so far.

If I had the time I actually would just post random stuff to get knickers in a twist. I really wish commenting on other peoples heads on Mumsnet was all I had to get upset about. 😂

@MontySaucy I don't think the OP's name choices are that weird (except the Ostin spelling).
Austin
Xavier
Zachary/Zachariah
Not completely over the top. Just names.
(Oh also Henley/Headly is not great but also wouldn't stand out in a sea of new babies and their names)

Thank you. Four threads seems to be too much for some people!! Didn't realise I had to consult the Mumsnet police before posting. Will know for the future!! 😜

So by asking for opinions on names that you don't particularly like makes them ridiculous and me a weird name troll?

When we wonder why kids bully other kids at school it's because they have people like you as parents and grandparents and pick on people for no reason. It's an innocent thread about baby names and you turn to being rude for absolutely no reason.

@Iwouldliketogoonholiday ignore the bitchy posts. Some people really are cranky aren't they?
Good luck with the baby - whatever name you choose 🙂
(I vote Zachariah)

Thank you! they really are. Feel a bit sorry for them actually.

Oh ffs it's you again. Why do you keep posting new threads with dodgy names? You know you can make one thread and add a poll for every name you like.

Get a hobby and come off the internet! If a couple of threads on Mumsnet is bothering you so much you don't have enough to occupy your time which is quite sad.

As you seem to be an expert on Mumsnet you will know that by you commenting rubbish is ironically helping to keep the the tread from yesterday active!!

If you like like the posts scroll passed them, it's quite simple! You are a joker 😂 so silly

Just call your child spammer and be done with all the threads.

Are you ok??? Do you not see that this thread is from yesterday and I haven't posted anymore new ones! You commenting rubbish is ironically keeping the thread live and active. Go and find something else to do weirdo!

French ancestry and mine and my daughter's names are of french origin.

My children ended up with Greek origin names, we arent greek but they are well known, normal names in the uk. I don't think happening to have French origin names yourself should mean you burden the next child with a dodgy spelling.

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 24/10/2024 16:32

I really love the name Austin but it was sadly vetoed by DH! Easy to pronounce and well known but not too common. Cute nicknames as well like Aus or Ozzy.

Obv same applies to Ostin but that spelling just looks wrong and silly even if it is an actual name.

ScabbyHorse · 24/10/2024 16:27

My friend's son is called Austin but everyone calls him Ozzy. He's named after the car. Ozzy makes me think of Ozzy Osbourne

BunnyLake · 24/10/2024 16:00

Mercedes is a name and Portia (different spelling but same pronunciation for some). And Minnie.

A lot of the car companies including Austin are named after people (either first name or surname)
