Names - Islie, Emmeline, Safia, Neveah and Hendrick.

Hey all!

I would like your opinions on the following names please ☺️
Girls - Islie, Emmeline, Safia and Neveah
Boys - Hendrick

Really struggling with boy names so feel free to bring any other ideas, any that go together for the girls also x

Nevaeh is just fucking awful. And always followed with ‘it’s heaven backwards. We know.

Hendricks is just weird as a name to me. It’s hard sounding, It’s a gin.

Islie is cute, is it made up?

The only Emmeline I know hates it and goes by Emma.

Emmeline, it's a beautiful name. I have a friend named Emmeline known as Emmie.

When I named my DCs I had a rule that the name had to be easily pronounced, spelt and that neither my child nor I would have to waste time explaining how it was pronounced or spelt. I feel you may encounter this problem with some of the other names but, of course, you do what you prefer.

Emmeline is nice

Saffiya is a beautiful name but it's very closely associated with Islam. Not too say you can't use it but if you're not Muslim (you don't mention being) I'm not sure I'd be casually adding such a well known name from another culture to my list.

Boys, what do you like about Hendrick? Hendrix is hugely associated (for first names) with Jimi. Are you a fan? It's bit naff to use such a famous association if not.

What are your tastes as you seem to be at the very early planning stages. In terms of sounds, associations, anything.

Emmeline was on my list - love it and the nickname Emmie is cute.

I have never heard of Islie but I like the sound of it. May get confused with Isla which is very popular.

Hendrick and Hendrix have very different feels to me. Hendri(c)k is a Dutch version of Henry and I would assume cultural links to the Netherlands. Hendrix I would assume a musical reference.

Nevaeh - chavviest name in existence, awful
hendrick - like the gin? Love Hendrix though
islie - looks like a homemade mash up of Isla and Elsie

I went to school with a couple of Muslim girls called Saffiyah. Would assume you are a Muslim family with this name, if that matters.

Islie sounds quite cute but looks odd to me, I did guess the right pronunciation but written down in most fonts it looks a lot like leslie! Emmeline is my favourite from your list as I love the nickname Emmy.

I don't hate Hendrick. Never heard it before but could work depending on your surname. Can be shortened to Rick.
