PennyLane335 · 21/10/2024 19:09

I am expecting baby number 3 early next year and we are not finding out the gender so I need suggestions of boys and girls names.

Baby number 3 will be sibling to Sloane (girl) and Miller (boy).

Names we like (but are set on) so you can get our vibe-

Boys

  • Archer
  • Henley
  • Cash
  • Lennox

Girls

  • Elara
  • Delaney
  • Lennie
  • Gia

I'm guessing you're American as Sloane was very popular there recently.
Imagining you ARE American these are some recent American babies I know of:

Kensington (a verb and a town in one)
Rhett
Cleo
Hazel

Willing to bet you a tenner the OP isn’t US-based!

I am pinching Wandsworth as a character name for a whimsical story.

Baby Croydon has my vote, might save that in case we get another cat.

What about Bromley or Beckenham? Two solid greater London-themed names right there?

@mathanxiety
' For "saddle your child with a name that they'll/you'll regret," I think you meant to say, "give your child a name I don't approve of". '

A name I don't approve of? No, a set of names that will make people laugh, either openly or behind their backs. Why would anyone knowing give their child a name that could make them a target for mockery??

Though surely any name can become a target for mockery with this logic?

No-one 10 years ago would have thought twice about someone being called Karen for example, now you'd never use it for a baby.

Better to choose something you love rather than trying to predict what others might think.

I vote for Croydon, Merton and Enfield. Never met a little Wandsworth or Lambeth, but there’s time yet …

The man who came to take down my trees is called George Shrubb.

Love it! I once knew a Food Tech teacher called Ms Cook, and knew a carpenter called Jeff Wood.

LuckySantangelo35 · 21/10/2024 23:07

Why do siblings names have to ‘go’ together?? Most of their life their name won’t be said in conjunction with their siblings.

BirthdayRainbow · 21/10/2024 23:07

PoppysAunt · 21/10/2024 22:47

Wouldn't it be brilliant if Gardener became a gardener?! Nominative determinism right there.
Although it's not likely that Archer would be firing arrows!

So you've had suggested Harlow, Sutton and Camden?

I love this thread.

For a girl: Klina or Qashere
For a boy: Gardner or McAlnwick

🤣🤣🤣

BootballJoy · 21/10/2024 23:01

Archer is my favourite of your boy names- also love PP's suggestion of Dashiell, that's a great name.

I think your vibes are kind of '2000s American' - maybe:
Marlow
Harley
Preston
Grayson
Idina
Ray
Lucia
Stone
Edison
Franklin
Serena
Chase
Kennedy
Cooper
Ryder
Jett

Userxyd · 21/10/2024 22:57

pavementgerms · 21/10/2024 21:18

Bailey fits your vibe and is unisex

Yes nice 😊

Userxyd · 21/10/2024 22:57

I agree with others go for a softer name for no. 3 else it does sound a bit themey. Place names are think are too similar to surnames in that way? Nice as a one off but if all 3 names are a bit left of field then they sound less unique and special. Sloane and Miller go really nicely atm and have a cool relaxed ageless feel to them, so if you had a similar "normal" name it might just make all 3 sound different in their own way?
Maybe eg. Sloane, Miller and James or Sloane, Miller and Eve.
Sloane, Miller and Barry? Nah lol

GU24Mum · 21/10/2024 22:56

What about Blaise for a girl?

imeanwhy · 21/10/2024 22:55

Dash/Dashiell?

margegunderson · 21/10/2024 22:53

How about twins called Cash and Carry?
Not a fan of surnames as names, sorry, and Sloane just sounds like Made In Chelsea to me.
Deffo not Cash.

MagicianMoth · 21/10/2024 22:47

I’m not at all against surnames as first names, but I do think having two “occupation” names that end in -er doesn’t sound great (Miller and Carter or Miller and Harper or Miller and Archer etc). The first name I thought of for Sloane and Miller was Meredith, other thoughts were Meadow, Blake, Regan, Evan, Curtis.
