I really love it.
Is it the pregnancy hormones? Or is it as great as I think it is?

Just make sure you open a savings account to pay for your child’s therapy.

Just no.

Birdie would probably be much better. Duckie just sounds like a pet name, excuse the pun haha

HollyKnight · 04/10/2024 22:24

No. The child will spend their life rolling their eyes at "Get Ducky in a row" puns.

You are naming a person, not a pet, not an eternal baby, but a person who will one day be an adult, and maybe have a responsible job, and will not want a name that makes them sound like an idiot.

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 04/10/2024 22:22

No.
obviously.

HappyMe6 · 04/10/2024 22:21

Frith2013 · 04/10/2024 22:16

It's terrible and I would be very surprised if a Registrar would agree to register that as a name.

MakeMeATea · 04/10/2024 22:10

Hmm let's see

Fucky ducky
What's up duck
Dicky
Duckhead

Yeah your child will resent you forever.

Copperoliverbear · 04/10/2024 22:10

Why an earth would you want to subject your child to this all of their lives, please don't.

No.

Superhansrantowindsor · 04/10/2024 21:59

Probably the worst name suggestion I have ever seen. Can you imagine him in high school and the teacher calling their name out? It’s a cute name for a small pet but not an appropriate name for a human being.

Anon9839399720 · 04/10/2024 21:58

Hahahahhahahhahahaha no you can not.

Macadamia20 · 04/10/2024 21:48

It's not though is it!

Yes but not because spike is a viable alternative but because ducky set the bar so low

ny vote is for ruby the oviraptor

ThePenguinIsDrunk · 04/10/2024 21:53

As you've already realised: no, not as a birth certificate name. As a nickname - go for your life!

Well imo yes it is. Which one would have you raising you eyebrows higher?

I didnt say it was good, just that it was better.

@Pickledpicklez
Spike is genuinely on my list. A close second to Duckie - I'd forgotten he was also a land before time dude. I wonder how spike would go down on Mumsnet I feel I should put it out there and find out....

No this is spike. Just give your kid a normal name
