I originally said I preferred Clara, but I actually love Charlotte nn Lottie with Benjamin nn Ben - a perfect pairing imo!

Agree - Charlotte and Benjamin is a very classic sounding pairing. More timeless and traditional and the “safer” option .Lottie and Ben are cute.

Clara and Benedict would be a quirkier/Bridgerton sounding pair - I actually slightly prefer it personally but both pairs are lovely.

Clara
I have a Charlotte of my own (and adore the name), but I’m not a big fan of Lottie.

JumpstartMondays · 25/09/2024 14:08

I love the name Lottie.
I hate the name Charlotte.

JumpstartMondays · 25/09/2024 14:07

I never understand why anyone would give their child a name they aren't actually going to call them by.

If you like Clara, name them Clara.
If you like Lottie, name them Lottie.
If you like Charlotte, name them Charlotte.
If you don't like Charlotte and won't actually use that as their name, don't give it to them! 😂

My friend has a Carlotta (love this name). In everyday life she is lotti

Kitkat1523 · 25/09/2024 12:35

Clara ….lovely
dont mind Charlotte….but not lottie

Skybluepinky · 25/09/2024 12:26

Both are lovely names, don’t overthink the business thing as the ones that chose business names for their kids are still looking for proper jobs despite being in their 30’s.

MotherOfCatBoy · 25/09/2024 12:24

Love Clara.
Also Anna-Clara.

Also love Lottie. Agree with others about Charlotte but as an adult name you can also got for Lotte (more Continental) or Liselotte.

Clara.

unknownscot · 25/09/2024 12:20

Sorry should've said it would be Charlotte on BC but always known as Lottie.

Our boy name is Ben but unsure if it would be Benjamin or something else

Clara
Unless you use Charlotte and have lottie as a diminutive

Agree

Sunnnybunny72 · 25/09/2024 08:04

Yes Lottie is 'sweet' so I would avoid for that reason.
Clara. Prefer Cara though.

Firsttimebabymummy · 25/09/2024 07:49

Clara is lovely.

Or charlotte

Both lovely. I worked with an adult Lottie and it suited her well but I get other people's concerns.

My preference is Clara but it really depends on your family name. If you have a surname with lots of 'ar' sounds (e.g. Parker, Sharples, Grant) I don't think Clara would work. Can't just take first name alone to make the choice.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/09/2024 23:55

Clara as I personally find diminutives like Lottie a bit sparse or childish sounding as a given name. Charlotte is fine though.

TheNameIsDickDarlington · 24/09/2024 23:05

Clara

BananaGrapeMelon · 24/09/2024 23:01

Clara, love it.

Jelly4444 · 24/09/2024 23:01

Definitely Clara or Charlotte. Lottie is lovely but not for an adult as others have said above.

ClydeBank · 24/09/2024 22:56

Both lovely. U will just have to have an extra child 😄

timoteigirl · 24/09/2024 22:53

Lottie sounds quite childish, maybe won't age well. So must be Clara. Or Carlotta.

GreenCereal · 24/09/2024 22:50

By the time Lottie gets to CEO level, her contemporaries will be extremely used to diminutives as names - she'll be surrounded by Alfies, Teddys, Evies etc. I would not let it put you off.

AutumnColours9 · 24/09/2024 22:42

Clara
