Benji or Stan when shortened.

Middle name George.

Ben is a classic that suits all ages and social backgrounds and Benjamin is a pleasant traditional longer option.

Stanley is one of the old blokes on the allotments (known as Stan obviously) or these days a toddler at nursery with his peers Leonard, Albert and Sidney. But I still think I’d much rather be a teenage Ben/Benjamin than a Stanley -Tom, Will, Sam, Joe, Ben and Ed are a cool group that would fit in at any school/uni.

Benjamin would be my choice. There seems to be soooooo many Stanleys around at the moment.

PurpleDiva22 · 20/09/2024 19:20

With the rise in popularity of Stanley cups st the moment, I'd opt for Benjamin! The cup was the first thing that popped into my head

wafflesmgee · 20/09/2024 19:19

Benjamin

Raininginparadise2 · 20/09/2024 19:18

Benjamin nn Ben. Not Benji.

sel2223 · 20/09/2024 19:17

I like both longer names but much prefer Ben to Stan when it's shortened.

Not Benji though, that's awful

Chocolateorange22 · 20/09/2024 18:04

I like both but Stanley is very popular at the moment (two in DDs class). Only know of one Benjamin but is a timeless name. Wanted Stanley for DS, didn't in the end.

SallyWD · 20/09/2024 07:08

I like Ben/Benjamin. Not Benji.
Stanley I'd quite nice too.

PenelopePitStrop · 20/09/2024 07:06

If you go for Benjamin use Ben not Benji.

Benjamin / Ben great
Benji : twee, cringe and for pets

Not Stanley. Old man’s name

I know what you mean, but they will be an old man at some point.

Hatfullofwillow · 20/09/2024 07:00

The cleverest person I've ever know was called Stanley, coincidentally he was an expert on (amongst many other things) Walter Benjamin. He was also a lovely human being.

I named our cat after him.

Leeloo1233 · 20/09/2024 06:02

For me Benjamin is now forever ruined by Netanjahu but I dont think many would care.

bathmode · 19/09/2024 14:08

Thanks all!

Stanley sounds better with George but I voted Benjamin because to me it's a nicer name.

Thunderpants88 · 18/09/2024 23:22

Not Stanley. Old man’s name

Jblack · 18/09/2024 23:21

Benjamin/Benji for sure! That's one of my top boy names and would definitely use Benji as a nickname. I've never met a dog called Benji so I wouldn't worry about that, but even so my DD1 happens to have the same name as my friends cat, so who cares if an animal also happens to have the same name 🤣 if you like it that's all that matters!

Greenbirdblue · 18/09/2024 21:17

Benjamin for sure! I don’t mind Stanley but I feel like it’s currently a bit on trend. Benjamin is much more timeless and will age well.

GoodVibesHere · 18/09/2024 21:02

Benjamin 100%

shoopshoopdedoo · 18/09/2024 21:00

Like them both, but prefer Benjamin.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/09/2024 20:05

Ben is a brilliant name, I think Stanley is cute on a little boy, but I'm not sure how it will age...

Bigearringsbigsmile · 18/09/2024 20:03

Benjamin
Stanley is an ugly name

stopringingme · 18/09/2024 20:02

Stanley

Amy106 · 18/09/2024 19:06

They are both great names but I like Benjamin better.

Sunnnybunny72 · 18/09/2024 19:04

Benjamin in its entirety. By a mile.

AboutVattime · 18/09/2024 19:00

I absolutely wish my son was Stan (ley) as it was my grandads name but was persuaded out of it .. post partum .. today without the post birth hormones nothing would have sold me off ..
