Looking for a sibling name help - boy and girl names.

Hi everyone,

I have a DD called Violet. I had a lot of anxiety over her name for a long time (well over a year!) - whether it was the right choice, whether it was a nice name or too harsh, the usual mumsnet thing of it being like Violence etc.

Now expecting again and looking for a sibling name that goes with Violet but nothing unusual or out there as I don’t want the same kind of anxiety over the name again. Cant be a name with an e sound at the end (for example Emily) due to our surname.

Names I like but can’t use:

Please let me know what you think! Already very nervous about the name given the stress it caused last time.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all the replies and for the reassurance on Violet which I unfortunately still need! I think I confused some people in my OP - those names are ones I like but can’t use.

I’ve been through all the responses now. Lots of great ideas.

for girls I really like Alice, Clara, Hazel, Eloise, Robin and Mabel.

for boys (always harder!) Oliver, Noah and Rowan.

another one I’ve heard recently for a girl - interested for views.

From your list I like Sofia most and Olivia and Charlotte least. Would prefer Carlotta.

I love a lot of the names on your list - most ( apart from Ryan) are very classic. Similar style imo (and perhaps with a slightly retro vibe like Violet) would be:

From your options I like Georgia and James. James is my favourite boys name so that’s easy! From your girls choices, I actually like Elizabeth best, and I like them all apart from Isabelle (don’t like that spelling). But I feel like a lot of the choices are more traditional (sort of Royal) than Violet, if that matters. Georgia has a more sparky feel and somehow that fits with Violet to me.

I actually love Violet and of DT2 had been a girl, they’d have been Violet.

I also love Georgia for a girl from your list.

For boys, you really can’t go wrong with James and William is my all time favourite name for a boy. I have regret that I didn’t use this.
