Middle name Valentina- to honour family names Valerie and Tina. Shortlist so far- Romy Valentina Sadie Valentina Francesca (Frankie ) Valentina Mila Valentina (mee- la) Amelie Valentina Not sure we have a particular style but these are a few of the names we have agreed on. Any suggestions welcome! We haven’t found one we both LOVE yet. thank you

Thank you everyone, some lovely suggestions here! I adore Valentina and would use it as a first name but I dislike the shortenings Val and Tina, which I think are probably inevitable! We don’t plan to use her middle name in daily life though, so I suppose it’s not hugely important that they ‘go’ together! Surname is 3 syllables and not an English surname, so I do think a 2 syllable and easier first name is best. I’ve loved so many of these suggestions and added some to the list.
I love Ruby, Thea, Mabel, Anna and quite a few others.

Valentina is a beautiful name - is there a reason for not using this as the first name?

A friend's adult daughter is called Valentina and she is gorgeous and really suits the name.

I could suggest any first name. The middle name is lovely and most names would go with it, apart from Eve, Niamh, Maeve, Evie, Ava, Eva, Ivy etc
If the name ends in -ina, chances are she'll be Gina Surname most of the time anyway.

If the first name and surname are popular ones, the middle name is quite likely to be used a lot.

Do you expect to be using the middle name a lot? Some parents would refer to their child as "Mila (or whatever) Valentina" in a lot of situations, or perhaps just when they are being naughty, whereas for others it just gets parked. In the former case I think you have to pay more attention to the overall feel (is "Mila Valentina" a nice little bouncy near-rhyme, or just too cute?). In the latter I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I wouldn’t go for a first name ending in the -a sound, with Valentina. It sounds a bit odd and makes it difficult to say.
