Bron-tee makes no sense. It isn't spelled like that so there's no reason to pronounce it like that.

Dragonsandcats · 30/08/2024 23:00

I really like it pronounced bront-ay but don’t like bront-ee.

Pearlinda · 30/08/2024 22:59

I really like it

DramaAlpaca · 30/08/2024 22:59

I strongly dislike it. There's something very harsh about it.

GreenMarigold · 30/08/2024 22:58

I know a Brontë in her 30s. Beautiful name!

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 30/08/2024 22:57

It's a lovely name, it reminds me of Andie MacDowell in Green Card.

AlwaysKindaKnewYoudBeTheDeathOfMe · 30/08/2024 22:57

It's very 'oh aren't we ever so literary in our house'.

toomanycushionshere · 30/08/2024 22:55

Love it!

I think it’s stunning. One of my favourite names

It’s not a name though, I mean obviously you can use it, but it’s no more a first name than Jones.

MoralOrLegal · 30/08/2024 22:52

My opinions on this are a bit wuthering...

MathsandStats · 30/08/2024 22:52

I taught a Brontë fairly recently and always quite liked it. The girl was nice too. And you may get the umlaut used because autocorrect just did it automatically for me!

twentysevendresses · 30/08/2024 22:51

I know two...one is 5 and the other is a teacher colleague. Both lovely and it's an equally lovely name. 💓

It has a harsh sound to me. I don't like it at all. I prefer Bunty 😆

As in the 50s kids mag? That really is carrying cosy names too far..

I have never known how to say this name! Is it "bront-ey" (ey like hey) or bront-ee? I know the authors are the first but I don't know about the name - for that reason I'm not keen.

Bron-Tay

theduchessofspork · 30/08/2024 22:48

No, it’s daft.

KezzabellaB · 30/08/2024 22:47

I think it's lovely. Go for it!

Beyondbeliefsometimes · 30/08/2024 22:42

It is a small townland in NI where the Bronte sisters family originate from. But I don't mind it as a name

Summerperfume · 30/08/2024 22:41

i think it’s lovely. Go for it!

WimbyAce · 30/08/2024 22:39

I actually love it and considered it for my daughter. But I thought people would struggle with it overall so didn't use it.

HauntedbyMagpies · 30/08/2024 22:37

There was a child in DD's class called Brontey I guess they must not be very good at spelling

bit pretentious - but if you like it who cares!
