Baby boy names Lucas, Reuben or Theo

Hello, we have just found out we are having a baby boy. As much as we are over the moon, we were more set on a girls name! We are between Lucas, Reuben and Theo. What are people's thoughts? Also I was very prepared to be a girl mummy but a bit scared to be a boy mum but excited. Any hints or tips to get me prepared for our boy?

Thank you for reading

I have two boys and never had the pee fountain until I had a daughter. As an infant, she would pee every time her nappy was removed.
DH is a Theo, I know a Leo named after his late grandad, a Lucas in my son's class and a Reuben in my other son's rugby group. All very lovely names, I'd probably pick Reuben.

IsThePopeCatholic · 29/08/2024 15:02

Reuben is fab.

mirrensidhe · 29/08/2024 14:59

I like all three, Reuben probably is the nicest in my opinion

Firebird83 · 29/08/2024 14:06

Lucas. Theo and Reuben are overused.

User6761 · 29/08/2024 14:00

Love Reuben, really like Theo but it's sooo popular where we are. Depends if that would bother you. Not keen on Lucas personally but really like Luke and Luca.

theduchessofspork · 29/08/2024 00:26

They are all nice

I’d go for Reuben, because Theo is insanely overused right now. Reuben and Luca are both very popular, but Reuben is less faddy than Luca so it won’t date in the same way.

(I agree w PPs that pee in your eye is the only difference you have to worry about for some time.)

SammyScrounge · 28/08/2024 23:06

Lucas is a lovely name .Theo is nice. Reuben - not so nice.

All 3 are lovely! Theo is my favourite 🤩 I have a boy and two girls and my boy is by far the easiest 😂

Mumofgirls2017 · 28/08/2024 22:14

Congratulations! I like Theo short for Theodore!

ThatsNotMyNumber · 28/08/2024 20:54

Theo is a lovely name. I know more Reubens than Theos. Dont like Lucas.

Pinkjenny · 28/08/2024 20:50

I have a 14 year old Lucas and he is lovely.

Mostly.

mrsed1987 · 28/08/2024 20:48

We have a nearly 6 year old Lucas and have only met 1 other so far a couple of years above him at school.

We also have a Reuben and Theo in our friendship group but I think Theo is the most common out of the 3.

Congratulations, I have 2 boys and love it.

NavyKitchen · 28/08/2024 20:47

I'm biased because ds2 and 3 are Lucas and Theo (ds1 is Max) Had I had a ds4, Reuben would have been a consideration. My favourite name is actually Theo, despite it being the 3rd one I chose 🤷🏼‍♀️

KimKardashiansLostEarring · 28/08/2024 20:44

Reuben - I know kids with it spelled Reuben, Rueben and Ruben, so that might be annoying. Don’t care if they’re wrong, I still know them IRL.

Theo - absolutely everywhere, because it’s a nice name of course, but there’s probably even more Theos around here than there are Freddies!

I absolutely love Lucas and would have chosen it but doesn’t work with our H surname (ends up sounding like Luca S…)

Boy tips… don’t know really. They’re just people. I have 2 and they’re very different to each other. Never had one wee in my face or at all when nappy came off. Got a daughter too and she seems more complex. Boys are simple loving souls. Great huggers.

Firsttimebabymummy · 28/08/2024 20:41

Like all these. My order of preference is
Reuben
Theodore
Lucas

Lorelaigilmore88 · 28/08/2024 20:37

Reuben :) its gorgeous and was on my shortlist. The others are nice too but more common. I prefer Luca to Lucas.

BoleynMemories13 · 28/08/2024 20:36

All 3 are lovely names, all fairly popular statistically right now so I wouldn't let any comments about one being significantly more popular than the others sway you as it just depends on who people know. All 3 are popular for a reason, as they're lovely names.

My own order of preference is Lucas, Theo then Reuben but you have a lovely list and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Cotswoldmama · 28/08/2024 20:05

I've got a Reuben, I don't really like your other names. I've only got boys but someone said something about more chance of being peed on during nappy change, that's never happened with me but did when changing my niece!

Ellen17 · 28/08/2024 20:02

Thank you so much for all your comments! ❤️

Nappy not happy
Ignore the van

Normallynumb · 28/08/2024 19:07

Oh and Don't be scared of having a boy
I have 3 wonderful sons
They're all different personalities despite what is between their legs, as are girls
Top tip for a newborn boy
Hold a happy up when van you remove the old one as they often wee a fountain!

FayCarew · 28/08/2024 19:06

Not keen on any of them.
Lucas - OK, I like Luke.
Reuben - seems a bit wet. gets misspelt.
Theo - I don't like it. Leo is so much nicer.

Normallynumb · 28/08/2024 19:04

I have a 23 year old Lucas so I'm biased!
Reuben is lovely

Lucas!! Not Reuben and too many Theo's around..

Pipecleanerrevival · 28/08/2024 18:56

Lucas (because I once taught a brilliant one)

Reuben is also nice.

Theos are ten a penny.
