Names for my twin boys!!!

Olivia2109 · 17/08/2024 11:41

my twin boys are due late September and we still haven’t decided on names! We keep choosing and then going back to the drawing board…. Trying to also think of names which go with our surname (Grey). For middle names we want one to have Timothy and one to have Glen.
Here’s our list:

Ellis
Elliot
Oakley
Jude
Morgan
Louis
Thomas
Sutton
Callum
Also love Sonny but actually prefer it spelt “Sunny”, but I feel he may get made fun of for it sounding “girly”?

If anyone has any other suggestions would love to hear! As a general rule, we love names with UK origin. I’m also Irish. Names that have some traditional element but also wouldn’t have many at school with the same name?

thank you 🤗

Oh I missed Louis was on the list.

I love that too!

Or

But I agree

Thomas and Oakley go really well together too.

Twin boys .. I love all these combos:
Thomas Glen Grey
Callum Timothy Grey
or
Oakley Glen Grey
Elliot Timothy Grey
or
Elliot Glen Grey
Callum Timothy Grey
or
Thomas Glen Grey
Oakley Tim Greoy
or
Timothy Glen Grey
Oakley Thomas Grey

I don’t think you can have Oakley Grey either, it sounds like a Farrow and Ball shade - a subtle blend of oak and grey - Grey is a nice surname but have to keep in mind it’s also a colour..

wlv12 · 17/08/2024 15:34

I love

Jude Timothy
Elliot Glen

or

Elliot Glen
Louis Timothy
— Elliot and Louis goes together beautifully without being ‘samey’

newmum1508 · 17/08/2024 15:29

Maybe controversially, I think Sunny sounds quite nice actually. Sonny is good too. Elliot and Ellis are probably my favs!

FayCarew · 17/08/2024 15:14

Yes: Thomas

OK:
Ellis
Elliot - will get Elliott and Eliot
Callum - I prefer the Calum spelling
Louis

Not keen:
Oakley - too trendy
Jude
Morgan - Organ

No:
Sutton

Nickname:
Also love Sonny but actually prefer it spelt “Sunny”

longdistanceclaraclara · 17/08/2024 15:09

Sutton is a town near me, my judgment may be clouded!

Hugo and Jack are nice. We liked Sutton because we like vintage names. It was my grandfathers first name who I was very close to. It’s towards the bottom of our list atm though so I doubt we’d use it.

I think at the moment Sutton would sound like part of the surname fashion like Lincoln and Harris, so the opposite of vintage, unfortunately. Nice as an extra middle name though.

theduchessofspork · 17/08/2024 15:05

Jude Timothy Grey
and Elliot Glen Grey work best and are very nice

I like Louis Grey too, but it doesn’t work with either middle name

Thomas Grey nice but a bit dull
Ellis is Ok but Elliot much nicer
callum is dated and neither it nor Morgan go with Grey

The others are a bit odd - and Sunny/Sonny Grey a very jarring combo - as in it conjures up Yellow-Grey so don’t do that.

Mine were going to be Hugo and Jack, but they turned out to be girls.

Why on earth would you call a child Sutton?!

Jude and Louis

Ihavenotaskedyou · 17/08/2024 13:00

As a dm of twins I'd say make sure they don't have the same initials (it can be an issue with paperwork/school.
Also I find I say my twins names together much more than my singleton plus one twin so say them together (make sure it's not a tongue twister or has a Sam and Ella vibe).
I don't think popularity is as important these days (it's down to luck). Dc1 and 2 have top 5 names and in a primary of 100 pupils there were no others with the same name (yet 3 Evans and 4 Ben's). Go with what you like.

PurpleReindeer2 · 17/08/2024 12:58

From your list-

Thomas Glen Grey
Callum Timothy Grey

what about-
Declan Timothy Grey
Finlay Glen Grey
Liam Timothy Grey
Kieran Glen Grey

Oakley is a very popular name for golden retrievers, so I'd bin that one for starters.
I like Jude and Elliott together - Jude Timothy and Elliott Glen work well.

Oh is it! I didn’t actually know this 😬, I definitely wouldn’t want him having a dog sounding name. It was actually one of my favourites due to the Oak sound and nature feel to it. Also love Elliot, it’s probably my top atm

I love the name Thomas

I would pick
Thomas Glen and Louis Timothy from your list .
Thomas and Louis go nicely together

Thanks! I love Thomas too but worried at first it may be too popular? When I was at school it seemed like every boy was called Tom or Sam! But maybe that has changed now…

Thank you! Yes probably wouldn’t use it, for some reason I just really liked the sound when I heard it 😂Also Ellis and Elliot are my top two but I think too similar to have both

I love both Ellis and Elliott but agree, too similar to have both and I don't like the whole same initial thing for twins anyway.
You've got some really nice names in there
