Sadie is my favourite...

User6761 · 15/08/2024 09:41

Love Marnie. Pippa is nice.

Nothing wrong with Sadie or Alice, just not my taste.

I find these post asking opinions about names strange, the answers are always subjective. Why does a bunch of strangers opinions matter! When you see your little one you will know what suits.

There wouldn't be much point in a names board if people didn't use it to ask for people's opinions!

Fundamentally, the opinions of strangers shouldn't matter or influence us too much, but many find it helpful to hear how those names are generally received, especially as lots of people prefer not to discuss names with friends and family in 'real life', before the birth.

We do indeed all have different opinions, which is why someone simply saying "it's not to my taste" shouldn't put people off. However, a lot of the time people can point out a problem which OP might not have been aware of or even considered (for example, I'm guessing OP may now go away and Google the meaning of Pippa!).

You don't have to reply to such threads if you find them so strange or pointless 😉

I love Alice and Pippa, though second a previous poster’s comments on Pippa being a name which doesn’t travel well.

Marnie strikes me as quite cool, it’s not my favourite but it’s a nice name. I’m not very keen on Sadie, personally.

Georgie743 · 15/08/2024 08:37

Love Sadie, fresh, fun, easy to spell and obvious how to say it, not a top 10 name but not super weird.

pippa - like it.

Marnie - seems a bit nicknamey

Alice - very classic.

BoleynMemories13 · 15/08/2024 08:35

Alice is lovely. I prefer classic names, personally, so this is by far my favourite on your list.

Sadie is ok but I'm not a big fan of using ie short forms as given names.

Pippa sounds sweet in this country but has a very rude meaning in some languages. Definitely one to avoid yo save her future embarrassment, especially if she travels.

I really dislike Marnie. A very modern choice which is not my style at all.

Mumofgirls2017 · 15/08/2024 07:30

Alice or Sadie my picks, probably Alice.

Such lovely names . Alice is my favourite. Probably Phillipa for birth certificate then Pippa for every day use . Marnie is very pretty.

Kiztittumne · 15/08/2024 04:37

Alice ❤️

sel2223 · 15/08/2024 04:35

Like them all - Sadie and Pippa being my favourites

CanelliniBeans · 15/08/2024 01:30

I love Alice. Really dislike Sadie and Marin.

Tintinuviel · 14/08/2024 23:39

I think they are all solid choices abd you can't go wrong.

I love Alice and Philippa (Pippa makes a great nickname or its own name) because the people I know with these names have been lively so they have positive associations for me. I see both as elegant and timeless.

I think Sadie and Marnie could be due for a revival, and are good choices if you want names that aren't super popular right now.

  1. Alice, beautiful classic name
  2. Sadie, quirky and a bit edgy. Relatively unusual too, which Is good.
  3. Marnie, quite like it.
  1. Pippa. Dislike it, very nicknamey, and apparently has rude meanings in several European languages.
Greigeisthelatestbeige · 14/08/2024 22:33

Alice - Nice.
Sadie - Dislike ‘Sadie Sadie the cleaning lady”. However I like Sarah.
Pippa - Love. DH vetoed it here because of Pippa Middleton. Baffles me too.
Marnie - ok (ish).

Meadowwild · 14/08/2024 22:28

I like Alice and Marnie.

Not keen on Sadie - just don't like the look or sound of it.And I knew a mean one. Don't like Pippa.

fortheveryfirsttime · 14/08/2024 22:27

Alice is my favourite. It's a lovely name.
Pippa and Marnie are nice.

I really dislike the name Sadie.
There's a Beatles song Sexy Sadie so always associated it with that. Then I met a Sadie and she is such a twat the name will always be associated with her and being a twat name. 😄

Sleepnplay · 14/08/2024 22:17

I love Sadie, beautiful IMO. Pippa would be my second choice.

Not keen on Alice, and don't like Marnie at all.

Firsttimebabymummy · 14/08/2024 22:15

All nice names. Alice is my favourite I think.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 14/08/2024 22:13

Love Alice.
Phillipa is nice, not Pippa.
Sadie looks sad.
Marnie looks like Marmite.

CrispsCoffeeandChocolateAreMine · 14/08/2024 22:13

I know a lovely person called Sadie so like that name the most.

AdaColeman · 14/08/2024 22:10

I like Alice very much, also Pippa as a nickname for Philippa is lovely.

I'm not keen on Sadie, it reminds me of Victorian kitchen maids, and I'm not keen on Marnie either.

Mandarinaduck · 14/08/2024 22:08

I like Alice and Pippa very much. They seem light and easy-going kind of names.
Marnie always feels a bit like a nickname to me, though it's nice enough.
Sadie feels a bit close to sadist.

wtfactually · 14/08/2024 22:02

Alice - love
Sadie - not for me sorry
Pippa - I sometimes like it and sometimes don't
Marnie - terrible, sorry

mathanxiety · 14/08/2024 22:00

Alice is gorgeous.
Sadie too.
Pippa a bit twee.

Marnie is godawful.
