I was just thinking of girls and women that I've met over the years, that had unusual names, that I liked.

I've met these people
Johanna
Dina
Persephone
Saffron
Sherryanne
Bronwyn
Gaia -
sweet little girl I used to babysit

Working in education in a very diverse area, I come across all sorts of amazing, unusual names. (I’ll only give names from many moons ago to avoid identifying myself or the children - now adults!)

Pretty (luckily she was a beauty!)
Miracle
Nile (a girl, named after the river)

Was Dympner not Dymphna. Its an Irish name.

It's the equivalent of Dorothy isn't it, and no there was no 'h' but it was pronounced as a 'ph'.

Bleu - female child on holiday sounded awful in regional accent (family are not French)

Tabitha pronounced Tab-ee-tha

Teifi - elderly man named after Welsh river

Oh I'm friends with a Teifi! A Welsh woman in her early 20s though, I guess it's universal.

Known a few boys called Blue, mind you, one must be in his 60s now.

Sherlock, feel he has a lot to up to there!

Love Mercedes, strangely the only ones I've know would also be in their 60s/70s.

Certainly used to be a thing to give children (at least as a middle name) the name of the ship or submarine their father served on, or was this a liverpool thing after WW1 and WW2??

I was at school with a Candida, I don't think it was considered bad in the 80s. Pretty sure there was a 70s pop song called Candida.

Also had people at school called Inigo, Orlando, Cinnamon and Portia.

Some other names on here are quite normal - Polly, India, Amber, Jocelyn (male & female).

My mum had a school friend called Winsome 😍

I've met a Placid. It seemed a bit of an odd thing to wish for your child, like you wanted them to be quiet and unremarkable.
