(I'm Swedish.)

Bjorn/Bjørn/Björn and Rune are great names!

I think Fjord is more of a word than a name.
I have never heard anyone being called Fjord.

Firebird83 · 04/08/2024 19:05

I love Rune

RollaCola84 · 04/08/2024 18:55

Rune isn't pronounced like Ancient Runes, I can't think of how to describe the R sound but the rest is oon-eh with the eh being very short. Or that's how the husband of a Norwegian friend says his name !

LuluBlakey1 · 04/08/2024 18:54

Magnus is a lovely name.

RollaCola84 · 04/08/2024 18:52

Fjord isn't a name, it's a thing so no for me. I know a Norwegian Rune, the R is a very Scandinavian sound that doesn't exist in English so I'd think about how you'd like that to be pronounced and whether you'd be constantly correcting.

I know more Norwegians than Danes, but of Danes I know a Magnus, Rasmus, Leif and Jonas (said like Yonas rather than hard J) as well names more common in the UK like Alexander, Frederick and Felix albeit with different pronunciation.

If I had a boy with any Scandinavian heritage I'd go for Magnus.

MrsBobtonTrent · 04/08/2024 18:51

Rjune surely?

FollowingForTheCraic · 04/08/2024 18:50

Is Fjord really a name, I wouldn't have thought so? Are you spelling Bjørn the Danish way? If not, it changes the pronunciation so then it's not straightforward in either language - as someone with that type of name, I would really go with something that people can spell correctly in one of his two cultures.

I like Rune. I didn't realise Fjord could be a name, I just thought it was some sort of watercourse

Izzynohopanda · 04/08/2024 18:49

Love Bjorn and quite like Rune.

Never heard Fjord as a name before.

Suggestions-
Henrik
Tomas
Karl
Erik
Anders
Lars
Alexander
Kristian

Maybe look at the Olympics for the Scandinavian team names!

Berlinlover · 04/08/2024 18:46

Definitely no to Fjord and Rune. I like Bjorn.

HaveYouSeenRain · 04/08/2024 18:43

Isn’t Fjord a fjord, that’s a no for me

Rune makes me think of the tennis player, also Bjorn (Björn Borg)

maybe I just watch too much tennis

crumpet · 04/08/2024 18:41

Bjorn,
Rune (is it pronounced Roon-eh?)

but Fjord just sounds a bit silly

TheWayTheLightFalls · 04/08/2024 18:37

Bjorn for me. I’m not familiar with Danish names OP but I really dislike the other two, sorry.
