Reuben and Wren

Due a baby boy this year and we're undecided on his name. His older sister is Wren. Are Reuben and Wren too close for siblings?

@JenJH For me, Reuben and Wren don't match at all, even though the names sound vaguely similar, - Wren 'n' Ben.

Wren is a bird name, of a really tiny brown bird.

Whereas Reuben is a heavyweight Biblical person from the Book of Genesis (who nobody really knows what they did till they look it up on wiki).

So, it seems an odd and imbalanced choice of names for siblings.

I think they sound quite good together although they might not thank you if they are always linked as Wren and ' Ben.

My only caveat is that all the Ruben's I know from adults to kids are complete cocks. Lovely name though and I'm sure you won't be raising your boy to be up his own arse.

I would find that a bit weird and a dyslexic nightmare - two names which sound as though they start the same but are differently spelled. I would avoid R names for that reason alone.

olympicsrock · 21/07/2024 18:20

Not too similar at all. Ru and Wren

Thevelvelletes · 21/07/2024 18:18

Reuben.. you've been away.
Great record.😎

MrsGhastlyCrumb · 21/07/2024 18:14

It's fine- good, complimentary names.

ladycarlotta · 21/07/2024 18:12

I think they sound lovely together!

Gamergirl86 · 21/07/2024 18:02

Beautiful set of names.

Nicebloomers · 20/07/2024 09:24

Wren and ‘Ben. A bit similar for me, though both lovely names.

Firsttimebabymummy · 20/07/2024 07:54

I like them together.

Doingmybest12 · 20/07/2024 07:38

Lovely together

CherryMaple · 20/07/2024 07:37

I don’t think they’re too similar at all. Lovely names. Go for it.

RuthW · 20/07/2024 07:36

They are too similar

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/07/2024 07:35

Lovely names. I think they go fine together too.

MouseofCommons · 20/07/2024 07:35

Too similar.

Moreteaandchocolate · 20/07/2024 07:33

Bournetilly · 20/07/2024 07:03

I think they go together nicely

BoleynMemories13 · 20/07/2024 07:00

Very difficult to say together for anyone with a speech impediment but obviously it's up to you.

deliwoman1 · 20/07/2024 06:50

We’ve got a friend who shortens her Reuben to ‘Roo,’ if that helps?

The names are a little similar but not so as to cause real problems I don’t think. If you love Reuben, go for it!

They do sound quite similar for a shouting up the stairs situation. Same name but one has an OOB in the middle.
Rowan?

Oh duh yeah that’s a really good point. OP could opt for ‘Rooooob!’, different vowel to Wren, might make a difference. But yes that might be tricky.

hulahoopqueen · 20/07/2024 06:38

If DC3 is a DD she'll be a Wren, I love the name! And DC1 is Henry. So I say go right ahead 😂

urbanbuddha · 20/07/2024 06:38

Lovely names but yes, they sound too much the same.

Rowan?

BingoMarieHeeler · 20/07/2024 06:35

I have 3 kids and can’t think of a time I say their names all together, I just go ‘KIIIIIIDS!!’ instead. And write them all in age order in cards etc. So Wren and Reuben.

crimpet · 20/07/2024 06:32

Beautiful names
