Elegant but unusual baby girl names

Really struggling for our baby girl's names - feel like I've exhausted everything at this point!

We love elegant and pretty names that easily shorten to a nice nickname from the first syllable.

As we do want the easy nickname, we've ruled out some favourites:

Felicity
Matilda
Delilah
Daphne

Been through all the usual Ottilie, Gwendoline etc but just can't find something with a pretty nickname alongside the long name that fits our vibe.

Help!

In my experience, a lot of girls names get shortened with an ‘s’ on the end, for example:

Becs
Mags
Debs

you may need to start with a nickname you like! But some others:

Cordelia - Cordy
Delilah - Dee
Eleanor - Elle
Margaret - Maggie/Mags
Natasha - Nat/Tash
Sidney - Sid

I think that it's a bit of waste of time planning a nickname in advance, because the one that sticks is almost always different to the one the parents intended.

I think it's the mix up between a nickname as I understand it and a regular shortening eg Beth or Lizzie as a recognised short form of Elizabeth, Ed or Eddie for Edward.

My children have two syllable names which are hard to shorten, but their nicknames evolved over time because of either things that happened or personality traits and they have nothing to do with their given names. It's like Sting's friends called him that because he constantly wore a black and yellow jumper.

In your shoes I'd probably choose Katherine and shorten to Kat or Kitty, or Perdita and go for Purdy, although I see that means lost or abandoned.
