I've posted here before but keep going backwards and forwards on all our names so just after more opinions please :)

Baby girl is due to arrive imminently and we won't be naming her until we've seen her. However we do want to go in armed with a list of names we like!

Middle name will be Joy as its a family name and our surname is 2 syllables starting with an S - just in case initials have and negative connotations we've not thought of... my initials are BJ and I don't want to make the same mistake with my own child!

Our favourites at the moment are:

Summer
Lydia
Eloise
Erin
Holly
Anna

Thanks!

Lydia or Anna. Please don’t name your daughter Summer Joy.

GummiBeari · 22/06/2024 23:07

Lydia.

Catopia · 22/06/2024 20:41

The three syllable names work best, so 3-1-2. So Lydia or Eloise from your list.
(Sophia, Katherine, Melanie, Rebecca, Kimberley..... anything that gives that rhythm will sound good).

I would avoid Holly for a summer baby. I think Summer Joy is a bit CBBC/sunshine and rainbows. Cute for a little child, possibly not for someone in a serious job - imagine if she becomes a divorce lawyer or tax accountant.

stressedespresso · 22/06/2024 20:23

Love Eloise & Anna. Elegant but strong at the same time and not too common

Summer is lovely but seasonal names don’t date well. Do what I did and save it for a dog! 🤣 Same goes re: Holly.

Really dislike Lydia - such a horribly harsh sound. Not a fan of Erin, feels a bit bland and where we are there are so many of them.

SushiSushi · 22/06/2024 20:20

Summer - no
Lydia - love
Eloise - ok
Erin - ok
Holly - ok
Anna - love, my favourite from your list

shoopshoopdedoo · 22/06/2024 20:17

I really like Anna and Lydia. Holly and Erin are also nice.

Personally, I really dislike both Eloise and Summer.

RubyBirdy · 22/06/2024 19:44

Lydia Joy is my favourite too!

MumsofAnarchy24 · 22/06/2024 13:57

Lydia is such a rare gem these days.

Full confidence on Lydia, it's beautiful.

Agree. I used to teach a Lydia, the only one ever , and she was such a lovely feisty little girl, determined and strong, I remember her very fondly!

viques · 22/06/2024 18:53

Lydia is such a pretty name, I would go with it. She won’t be using Joy everyday I imagine, so a three syllable name followed by a two syllable surname has a good rhythm to it, but if she does use the Joy then a three, one, two rhythm works too.

DustyLee123 · 22/06/2024 08:25

I like Lydia and Erin.

Me too, they’re not names you hear all the time but are pretty.

fancyfrogs · 22/06/2024 18:52

Lydia Joy is lovely ❤️

Nicebloomers · 22/06/2024 18:47

What about Elodie Joy? A bit of a mix of Eloise and Lydia.

Jemimapinotduck · 22/06/2024 18:43

Me and my daughter both love the names Eloise and Lydia Joy! Hope this helps.

StormingNorman · 22/06/2024 16:02

Holly Joy has a definite Christmas vibe that would put me off the combo.

Anna Joy is lovely and AJ is a great nickname.

HuevoRanchero · 22/06/2024 15:40

Lydia or Anna. Summer is a bit mimsy. Holly is kind of perky and Christmas themed for a June/July baby. Erin is awful. Either you are calling your baby an anglicised version of ‘Ireland’ via Irish-America, or, for most Irish people, a nasty brand of packet soup.

PurpleReindeer2 · 22/06/2024 15:36

Anna is my favourite then Lydia. Don't really like any of the others. Summer Joy sounds dreadful, like an advert name of something.

Grendell · 22/06/2024 15:30

Summer - no, sounds like a product
Lydia - yes!
Eloise - yes!
Erin - sounds like Aaron and then you get "Girl Erin or Boy Aaron?"
Holly - no sounds like a product
Anna - ok

Firsttimebabymummy · 22/06/2024 15:25

Lydia is my favorite by far and then 2nd is Anna xx.

MumsofAnarchy24 · 22/06/2024 13:57

Theoldwoman · 22/06/2024 13:32

Lydia Joy or Erin Joy

KirstenBlest · 22/06/2024 13:07

Summer - no, and definitely not with Joy
Lydia - yes
Eloise - ok, a bit of a mouthful. Will probably be Ellie.
Erin - I'm not keen. Doesn't go with the middle name.
Holly - nice but a bit Christmassy. Doesn't go with the middle name.
Anna - nice, classic. Yes

Anna or Lydia, whichever goes best with the surname.

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/06/2024 11:42

Summer- love (but will probably date…)
Lydia- meh
Eloise- love but not fan of ellie
Erin- like
Holly- like but it’s becoming dated I think
Anna- nice classic

NightPuffins · 22/06/2024 11:05

Summer Joy and Holly Joy both sound like seasonal air fresheners. A shame because Summer, Holly and Joy are all lovely names, it's just the combination becomes sickly.
But if you used two middle names it would work. Summer Erin Joy or Holly Erin Joy both perfect.

Anna, I always think it's just a bit plain and invisible as a name.

Lydia, Eloise and Erin are all lovely choices with Joy as a middle name.

I like Lydia and Eloise the best. I would usually like Summer, but not with Joy as a middle.

ExitChasedByCars · 22/06/2024 10:51

Your list sounds lovely but, with Joy as a middle name, Lydia seems like a strong contender.
