How would you pronounce Lourdes?

I've lived in France and speak French and would pronounce it like the place name, more or less Loord.

"Lordez" came into American English via the Spanish pronunciation.

Lour-dez - I knew a lass from Mexico called Lourdes and it was how she pronounced it.

The place, I’d pronounce in the French way.

I'd pronounce it like half way between "lord" and "lure". So sort of like lurds. It would be a stab in the dark.

I'd be attempting it tentatively and would manage fine if corrected to either of the pronunciations mentioned.

Yes, more or less.

It's French, OP, so the 'es' isn't pronounced at the end of the word.

And definitely an 'oo' sound, not the 'o' of 'lord'.

Given that both of your attempts to write it down phonetically are very wrong, don't you think a different name in a language you speak might be a better idea?
