I'm due with daughter number 2 soon and trying to find names that DH and I like, he is more relaxed about names than I am and pretty open to suggestions. I tend to like names that can be shortened to something with ie/y at the end such as Harriet to Hattie but not so much names with an L sound in the middle.

Here are some I like but either can't use it, DH isn't so keen on, I don't like either the long or shortened form, they don't have a common longer/shorter form or they're just not quite right.

Saffron/Saffy
Edith/Edie
Olive/Livvie
Isabella/Izzy
Roberta/Bobbie
Bridie
Heidi
Katie
Fern
Erin
Daisy

I came across Heather the other day and thought a diminutive might be Hettie but not sure if that's a usual shortening of it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I know a heather who went by Hettie. My dd is Imogen and she was Immie as a toddler, idgy in upper junior and now nearly an adult is Midge, Iggy works as a nn for Imogen too.
Charlotte/Charlie or Lottie
Elizabeth has lots not nn potential

I know you said you don’t like L sounds in the middle but what about Philippa shortened to Pippa?
