If Rowan was on your list but you chose another boys name, what was it?

I have a Rowan and we're expecting another baby later this year. I'm certain it's going to be another boy but I don't love any boys names and need some inspiration please.

The small number of names we do like are all used by close friends/family or we don't agree on!

Rowan was on my boys list, but we decided that if our child was a boy that he would be called Vivian. One of the very few names my husband and I agreed on!

Pootle40 · 22/05/2024 20:00

We had Rowan, Barnaby and Jaygo on our list

We also went for Reuben. We didn't call number 2 Rowan because felt the 2 names were too similar.
Other names I liked
Isaiah
Caleb
Isaac
Levi
Amos

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver We also know a little Jacob, such a lovely name though! We agree on very few boys names, much easier with girls!

I love rowen but dh wouldn't have it.
We had a Jacob instead

@SnapdragonToadflax I love Rafferty and Reuben but DP isn't on board with Rafferty, he does like Reuben. We both like Leo but it's the name of a friends DS. I also work with children so lots of names have associations!

I also love Laurie but again DP isn't on board!

@Kitkat1523 that's nice. I have met one lovely little girl called Rowan and about 4 boys. Love it for both.

Thanks everyone! There are quite a few names listed we do love but can't use.

DP keeps suggesting Sebastian and I like Austin and Isaac but he isn't keen.

We discussed Reuben but I can't help but think Rowan and Reuben are too many R's?

I'm leaning towards Finley/Finn as it is a lovely name but I just don't love it the same as Rowan and I really want to like it just as much. I would also quite like another name that isn't easily/always shortened. A couple of people do shorten Rowan but mostly he gets his full name.
