Sadie the sadist. No.

Grazyna80 · 19/05/2024 19:25

Love it , little unusual. For me .

Carly944 · 19/05/2024 19:25

Charles manson.

Sadist.

Coconutter24 · 19/05/2024 19:23

I used to know a Sadie and thought it was a nice name (30 years ago), now I just think it sounds like a dogs name

NetMum2 · 19/05/2024 19:23

I really like the name Sadie but personally wouldn’t use it because it starts with ‘sad’. Same reason I wouldn’t use Madeleine, because it starts with ‘mad’. I’d never noticed it ends in ‘die’ before so I guess that’s another reason I wouldn’t use Sadie or Maddie!

InheritedClock · 19/05/2024 19:16

Sadies for me are hardbitten sixtysomething chainsmokers who always have used tissues poking out of their cardigan sleeves.

SOxon · 19/05/2024 19:13

also! knew an older Sadie who at her funeral was Sarah?! also Sally is Sarah,
it is the same Hebrew name meaning Princess

DuchessOfSausage · 19/05/2024 19:13

I like it.

Jeannie88 · 19/05/2024 19:11

I like it! Xx

SOxon · 19/05/2024 19:08

we encountered a Sadie she must be 14 now, a disturbed child with awful parents totally offputting - older people would quote Miss Sadie Thompson, (Rita Hayworth in the film of the same name) a lady of dubious morals, the association lingers

Ukholidaysaregreat · 19/05/2024 19:05

Lovely name. Proper name but not too popular.

scrivette · 19/05/2024 19:04

It's a nice name, there have been a couple in my DC's Primary School. In the many years I have known Sadie I havent ever noticed until now that it ends in 'die'!

SplitFountainPen · 19/05/2024 19:04

I don't like it, too similar to sadist/sadistic

BCBird · 19/05/2024 19:03

ApolloandDaphne · 19/05/2024 19:01

Lovely for a cleaning lady!

35andThriving · 19/05/2024 18:53

The fact that it has the words "Sad" and "die* in it puts me off. Such a negative name.

FFS. That's just ridiculous, on one of these threads somebody said they didn't like Violet as it sounded like vile. I assume you don't live in Wales? I quite like Sadie.

pastaandpesto · 19/05/2024 18:56

I really like it. I associate it with Sadie Frost.

It would never occur to me to made the "sad" and "die" connection - I actually think it is a really cheerful, positive sounding name, perhaps because it reminds me a bit of the word sunny?

Ereyraa · 19/05/2024 18:55

Lots in different groups of friends have used it

I’m just not a fan. I’ve never warmed to it on any of the kids who are named it either, like you usually end up doing.

It’s really harsh sounding to me.
