Soul isn't a name, did you mean Sol? I think Romeo is always going to get the Beckham or lover boy references, if you have any Italian heritage then you can probably pull it off, if not I've give it a miss. Roman is much better if you don't have any Italian heritage IMO.

I think she knows her own kid's name. No reason why Soul can't be a name.

And your comment is classy is it?

Given the OP asked for honest opinions, yes.

There were far less polite adjectives I could have used to make the same point. For me, it's in the same category as Jayden, Jax, Kai etc. Btw I'm sure plenty of people would judge my kids' names for being very boring middle class fodder and that's also fair enough as an opinion.

💯

I wouldnt, purely for the reason that Juliet is a fairly popular name and if by chance there was ever a Juliet in his class it would be sticky toffee for bullies.

But if you want a Romeo name then look at the play, lots of names there, I think Paris would fit your “vibe” , but there is also

Abram,Balthasar,Escalus,Montague,Capulet,Benvolio,Tybalt, Mercutio.

misszebra · 18/05/2024 19:37

honestly cringe

SuuzeeeQ · 18/05/2024 19:37

No no no. Please don’t.
plus as others said too similar to Rio.

I think every single person will say, 'Oh yeah. Like the Beckhams?'

Also, it's pretty hard on the child if he grows up to be a shy, short bookworm type. You need a certain amount of swagger to carry off 'Romeo' when introducing yourself to girls in your teens.

I agree with this though and I do think names like this are quite unfair on kids.

He will likely get teased at least a bit. I think there's other names that go with your other children that aren't as divisive.

PrincessOfPreschool · 18/05/2024 19:34

I don't dislike it but much too similar to Rio. Roman is great and fits your vibe. I've also come across Blue, Oakley, Sonny, Teddy, Otis (I work with kids!) which I think are similar.

Wow.

therealcookiemonster · 18/05/2024 19:19

just no

he will get teased ruthlessly

also it's cheesy

WearyAuldWumman · 18/05/2024 19:18

I'd hesitate. As soon as he hits secondary school, someone's going to comment.

Jeannie88 · 18/05/2024 19:17

It's a lovely name but yes it sadly will be used for jokes, not horrible ones, but will be annoying I imagine. X

blue345 · 18/05/2024 17:16

Bad and not very classy.

And your comment is classy is it?

fluffypooch · 18/05/2024 19:12

Mn leaves me flabbergasted at times 🫢 op didn't ask opinions on her existing children's names she asked about thoughts on a name she's thinking off for her unborn baby! People are so rude on here it actually makes me sick.

Op Romeo is a lovely name and goes well with your other children's names, I know a Romeo and it gets shortened to romes. If you love it use it ❤️

CurlewKate · 18/05/2024 19:05

Honest opinion? I think it'd be a millstone round the neck of any but the most super confident child. Life can be tough sometimes. Why make it tougher?

Moreteaandchocolate · 18/05/2024 18:56

I’m personally not keen because I’ve heard people say Romeo to mean a comically romantic man

BiggerBoat1 · 18/05/2024 17:35

Well it goes with the other names you've already chosen I suppose. Not a fan of any of them, so tricky when you're asking for honest opinions.

Unless you’re in any way Italian I wouldn’t. Its not an unpleasant sounding but its English connotations of ‘lover boy’ and the Beckhams use of it make it an embarrassment. I agree with a few others, I think Roman is a lovely alternative for a child and also elegant for a grown man.

takemeawayagain · 18/05/2024 17:23

Deipara · 18/05/2024 17:18

What does it matter what I think? You've said you've fallen in love with it and surely that is all that matters.

blue345 · 18/05/2024 17:16

Bad and not very classy.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/05/2024 17:14

Too much baggage in that name for me. But I don’t like your other names either to be fair.

FlakyScroller · 18/05/2024 17:13

I think it goes nicely with your other names.
Roman is also nice but very popular where I am, I've taught 6 recently 5 of them were in one class.
I've taught one Rio but never a Soul or a Romeo.

Whereas I think every single person will ask ‘where’s Juliet then’ or Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou at him all the time 😁
